Question How to implement a truely Multilingual forum !?!?

Hi!

I would like to use Kunena for a multi-lingual community and I am playing around with the idea to make the forum truely multilingual, which means that for a French viewer all posts will be automatically translated into his native language, same for a German, Italian or English user.

I am using JomSocial for the community part and the way in which I am envisioning this multilingual forum is that each user sets up his native language in his JS profile and that the forum translates the posts "on the fly" using an online translation service (like Google translate, any recommendations?) from their original language (defined by the default language of the user who wrote the post) to the desired target language (defined by the viewing user's default language).

As I am aware that the translation takes a while I would restrict the displayed posts per page to, say, 10 and include a little dropdown box (or else) to let the user select whether he wants the posts to appear in their native language(s) or in the translated form. This way we could enable truely international exchange across language barriers.

As I am good with ideas, but weak in php, I need your help and advise on how this can be achieved. I believe that this could be a killer-app for many communities because it extends the reach into the international realm.

So, does anybody have experience with this, does it exist or can point me to bits and pieces that can contribute to the solution??

Great idea.... I don't have the answer, but I think this dude may be able to help:

Http://

In my case, I just installed Kunena on my Joomla 1.5 with Community Builder and the Extenstion this fellow created does a great job of translating pages of my site, but when I try it on the Kunena forums, it asks to login (in whatever language I selected).

Best of luck!

Let me know if you find a fix!
