The error is still present in 1.5.8 and will appear on install.

Just to let you know, LittleJohn, the error is generated by PHP 5.3. ;)

Presumably the Kunena developers, and all other developers in the Joomla "space" will catch up. See this discussion topic as an example of the interest in the matter. For the time-being, though, most of the problems that users experience are when they install Joomla and components on a XAMPP or WAMP server on their own PCs ... not on commercially-run webhosting services. But, as more commercially-run webhosting services upgrade to PHP 5.3 I guess we'll see a lot more instances of this problem.

I am very aware of the cause. I am too a web dev.

This taken into consideration and the thread the other day (with people have to install Kunena to test it)...? Not a good first impression of a piece of software.

I do believe, that many people still does that (testing) on a _AMP as it is the most easy thing to do (if you dont have a provider set up already).
Therefore I think the subject will keep coming back (till the & is removed at least :P)...

You make a good point, LittleJohn. I agree with you. The first time I encountered those "deprecated warning" nasties I was jolted out of my comfort zone. I scoured the 'net to find out what caused them and how to eliminate the pests. Yucky, nasty, things! :X

In an ideal world, software developers perform rigorous regression testing on a dozen different, typical, user platforms before they release their product. Certainly, when you're paying good money, you expect a professionally-built product. But we don't live in an ideal world and many developers are only part-time hobbyists or enthusiasts and sometimes they have to cut corners ... and that's what happens. Even worse, many errors go undetected because users don't report them! :(

So, once again we are in agreement, in principle, but the practical reality is that this might be one of those things that receives less-urgent attention than, perhaps, some people would like. B)

Yes. I completely agree with you.
It's really a pity...
