I know that in kunna 1.6 contains many optimization but I hope to find a solution for this problem because I don't think to update the forum soon.
There will not be any official solution provided by the project team for K 1.5. The official solution as far as this problem is concerned, is K 1.6.
I know that upgrade is always the best solution, but I've asked if there is a solution for the problem without upgrading. If xillibit or other developers/users are able to port the query for RSS from K1.6 to 1.5 i can test it.
Regarding your other off-topic questions:
(1) I do not understand your users' inability to enable or disable topic subscription. Check your setting Kunena Configuration » Frontend » User Related » Allow Subscriptions = Yes
Sorry, my english is not good, I try to explain the point better.
The problem is related to this Kunena config. option:
Post-subscription checked by default?
Many users want to disable it, but they can't change it from the profile options. Only the administrator can enable or disable automatic subscription on post for all users. Users need to have the option in their profile to select this option how they like. I hope to see this in next versions of kunena
(2) Read what the moderators of this site had to say in
Kunena latest posts
.
They simply say to use the official module with kunena 1.6, like for the discuss bot and other extensions.
Good luck in finding the performance improvements that you're hoping for in K 1.5. I believe that it will be quicker for you, and much less costly, if you upgraded to K 1.6.
Thanks sozzled.
I understand that kunena team is encouraging users to move to the newest version of this beautiful joomla extension to have a better quality forum and the best user-experience, but you need to consider that even the component is free, the upgrade process can have a cost (time, and money), so it cannot be done immediatly by all
