Question Joomla FTP layer and image upload

Quick dumb question: am I right in thinking that image and file uploads will fail in kunena if the joomla ftp layer details are incorrect? Irrespective of the permissions on the directories?

If you can disable the FTP layer because sometimes it causing issues.

Thanks, but I fixed the ftp layer details and that allowed file and image uploads whilst leaving the folder permissions intact

G'day, rubhadubh, and welcome to Kunena. That's not a dumb question at all and I think it deserves an answer. I'm looking for an answer to this question, too! :ohmy:

There is another discussion topic that's affected by this answer: Avatar upload file permissions . I'm still waiting for a response on that issue to resolve an issue that I'm have with K 1.6 testing.
