I have gone to the default installation of 1.5.11 hoping the issue was with Gainsboro Template. The only thing I have changed are the forum colors, all else is default 1.5.11. Here is a link to my site with example, easternshoreman.com/component/kunena/tec...moticons-do-not-show

Hello,

Two possibilities :

1°) The emoticons aren't presents in \components\com_kunena\template\your_kunenatemplate\images\yourlanguage\emoticons

2°) You have wrong permissions on your emoticons images

I don't provide support by PM, because this can be useful for someone else.

This is not the name of a default emoticon either you are trying to add custom emoticon and you have put them in teh wrong directory or some thing you have installed is affecting your BBcode and corrupting the emoticon links.

G'day, bigmike. We just finished a quite long (and complicated) discussion about similar problems with smileys. See Smileys/Emoticons . The upshot of that discussion was that the user's smileys didn't work because he wasn't using a Kunena template that was up-to-date with K 1.5.11.

We're not here to criticise the Gainsboro template but you may have found a defect in it and you should discuss those issues with the people responsible for its development.

Let's get back to some basics: as soon as your questions involve anything that's non-standard the issue starts to lose its relevance in terms of Kunena support. We have to draw the line somewhere. I wrote, in K 1.5.x Support: Please read this first :

We get a lot of requests for "support" but only one in twenty actually deals with genuine support questions. We remind users that, before they rush into asking for help, they spend a few moments reading this topic. It's important!

The Support category is used to address problems with the unmodified core Kunena software - not to ask how to change it or to discuss problems people might encounter with third-party developed features

The reason I made those comments is because we take issues in the Support category very seriously. If there are defects in the current stable version of Kunena we want to identify them and solve them so that they don't affect other users.

Having said that, I understand that smiley management is not the easiest part to understand about Kunena. If I could write a good tutorial on the subject I would. Perhaps someone, with a little bit of time on their hands, might start the process? In the meantime, please read (as the first link in my reply here will reveal to you) Smiley management . Please make sure that you have created your own smileys in the correct place, that you have properly associated your smiley images with you BBcode, and that your smiley folder has the correct permissions to allow other people to see them.

Let's find out what causes your problem.
