G'day, ardcth, and welcome to the forum.
You originally posted your topic in our

category. Please read
/forum/138-support/45331-k-15x-support-please-read-this-first
. What looks to you like a support issue is, in fact, an issue with your Joomla template.
You say that you have had this problem with K 1.5.8 - you must have had that problem for a long time  ... and done nothing about it! :S
The big problem for
Kunena, as with so many other Joomla extensions, is that the Joomla CSS definitions are applied
after all extensions are loaded by your server. This means that anything defined in the
Kunena template CSS can be altered by whatever other rules your [Joomla]
website CSS uses. This might help you understand why 99.9% of all "template problems" reported here are nothing to do with
Kunena.
Kunena is involved, sure, but
Kunena is generally only
incidental to the real problem: you website template (at least, that's my guess based on the limited information you have provided) holds the key.
Please read
Before you ask for help with template issues ...
which may offer you (and others) a few helpful hints on how to go about solving your problem(s). If you can't find a solution, please post details of your site URL and we
may be able to find what is the cause of your specific problem.
Those are my suggestions: I hope they help you.
