I assume that when you write that you need a "default gray" template for K 1.5.9 you are referring to the old
default_gray template that existed, once upon a time, in an old version of
Kunena. Is that correct?
First of all you should read
There is only one endorsed and supported Kunena template ... default_ex
.
Now I want to be very clear about the points that were made in the abovementioned topic. The old templates date back to the days of
Fireboard.
Fireboard was "buggy";
Fireboard was defective;
Fireboard had many security problems. I short,
Kunena was a catalyst for change and the opportunity to head in a new direction away from the continual problems of the past. Dealing with the problems of the past has been a long and difficult process. Breaking those past links has been just as difficult for those, like you, who still want to retain some of those old features. In understand that but, as we've said on numerous occasions, in some areas there were too many problems to fix and it was easier to remove them from
Kunena; the
default_gray template was one of those.
Moving ahead, K 1.6 will further disengage from
Fireboard. In the future K 2.0 will be such a total rewrite of the product that will bear no resemblance to
Fireboard in any form that you may have seen it. Therefore, starting with K 1.5.8, the old
Fireboard-style templates were removed from new installations of
Kunena.
It is possible to colour your
default_ex template so that it looks similar to the
default_gray one. You can even use the images used in the old
default_gray template if you extract them from an old
Kunena installation kit. In other words, you can design your own grey template.
But if you want the
original default_gray template and the way that it operated then stay with a version of
Kunena that included it (K 1.5.7 and earlier) but remember, too, there is no support for that version and you will be on your own with all the problems that you will encounter.
We want
Kunena to have a good reputation, not a reputation for being defective, inconsistent or insecure. For those reasons, the support for the
default_gray template (and some others) was abandoned a long time ago. It was K 1.5.8 when the plug was finally pulled and
default_gray was allowed to die peacefully.
