Kunena 6.3.0 released
The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 6.3.0 [K 6.3.0] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 4.4.x/5.0.x/5.1.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 6.3

I have 1.5.6 and want to upgrade to the new verison so i just install the componenet as usual? will i lose anything? thanks

It's a good question. The answer is, as always whenever you install any extension on a live Joomla website, (1) Backup your site in case anything goes wrong during the installation process; and (2) You just install Kunena - you don't uninstall it - and you lose nothing. The installation process takes about 15 seconds.
However, any customised hacks that you've done to the Kunena source code or any template changes that you've done to the default_ex template will be overwritten by the upgrade.

1. so backup your site
2. backup custom files for kunena template
3. install compnent as normal
4.wait 15 seconds
5. all ok nothing lost

Yes, correct. Then apply again your custom change in the template.

Thank you it worked just fine...... i had to install it twice the first it crashed but the second time it was ok nothing lost
