Question Uninstall doesn't delete the database tables

I decided to uninstall the old version of Kunena (1.5.6) and install the new version (1.5.7) from scratch.

I used the standard uninstall process (Joomla back-end > Extensions > Install/Uninstall > Components > Kunena > Uninstall).

I discovered that the uninstall process removes Kunena from the components area, but it does not remove the Kunena tables from the database.

I therefore had to remove the tables manually. I guessed that they were all the #__fb_ tables; I hope I'm right.

Is there a non-standard uninstall process that I'm supposed to go through to uninstall Kunena fully?

Hello,

It's the normal behaviour of Kunena to untouch the database tables, If you have delete all tables named jos_fb_*, it's ok.

I don't understand why you would delete tables, if you just want upgrading Kunena, but with kunena 1.5.x series it not necessary to uninstall the previous version of Kunena, just install the new, the upgrade will be done automaticly.

I don't provide support by PM, because this can be useful for someone else.

This is non-standard behaviour. It may be an idea to document this fact in a couple of obvious places.

Super, thanks.

I don't understand why you would delete tables...

It's a test installation, and I was slightly confused about your deprecation of the templates. So, for me, it made sense to completely uninstall and then reinstall.

Thanks again.

This feature has been heritated from K1.0: Joomla 1.0 didn't have upgrade method and you had to uninstall component to upgrade it. As many of our users still uninstall Kunena during upgrade, it's unwise to do change this behaviour, at least now. K2.0 will most likely work differently in this matter, but we haven't decided how exactly..

I understand.

Still, it would be good if you documented this for people who wish to uninstall.
