Question Migrating forum content/categories/comments from one site to another

Hi All, hopefully someone can point me to the best way of doing the following. I am relatively new to this and need some guidance.

1. I have joomla 1.5.14 and the Kunena Forum 1.5.4 installed on it and about 50 posts on it. I want to just export all the forum data and transfer it into a new website that has been built and is using Kunena 1.5.5

Can anyone point me to a tutorial that shows how to export all data and import it on a new website? :blush:

So ultimately its just a transfer of data - I cannot transfer the whole website as I just need to transfer the forum itself and all its content.

Help much appreciated.

Hello,

For this you need to use phpmyadmin, export all tables starting by fb_* and import this tables on your new site.

If this isn't your cup of tea, you can use the component joomlapack , which can backup and restore your datas.

Hi there, I would love to use phpmyadmin. I have used it to export my full database but can you tell me how to export just the Kunena Forum 1.5.5 as you suggest.

I will take a look at joomlapack if its more for beginners. I hope joomlapack will just export and import the kunena data and not everything in joomla?

Forgot Joomlapack, use Phpmyadmin and in the tab export, you will can choose only the tables used by Kunena, it's only the table begining by jos_fb_* , then you can import them in your new site.

I was wondering do I have to import all my users first from the old website so that the topics and posts in the forum will be synced to the users who made them. I presume my first step is to import all the users into my current website and then the forum posts as you kindly suggest?
