Does the joomla Legacy plugin have to be turned on? was created by imtechnology
Hi All!
I am a little confused about whether Kunena is actually 1.5 native or not.
I have installed Kunena successfully (i had the legacy plugin published) but I have since decided to use joomla query cache from joomlaperformance.com. BUT it requires that native mode NOT be switched off.
When i switch off the legacy plugin and navigate to the forum the only thing I see is a blank page with the words:
"Direct Access to this location is not allowed."
When I re-enable the legacy plugin the forum works fine. If i switch on debug i can not see any legacy queries though.
I am using the default template and have upgraded to 1.5.4
Is there a trick to this or am I doing something wrong.
Any help really appreciated.
Cheers,
Ed.

Hi imtechnology,
the problem is a language file what you using with Kunena. Read here what you need to change and you can turn off Legacy plugin.

Hi quila!
This was the very first thing that I checked. I should have mentioned that before... sorry.
The only language that I use is english and I verified that the kunena.english.php file had the line:
Which it does.
Any other thoughts?

First of all, Kunena 1.5.4 out-of-the box is Joomla 1.5 compatible without the need to run the legacy plugin. (see Legacy Mode in the Wiki). So, without knowing anything else about your website I would say that it's unusual if you're having a legacy conflict because of Kunena. But I could be wrong!
You can identify potential legacy conflicts by going to your Joomla administration area (click Extensions » Install / Uninistall) and then look at each of the following areas, in turn: Components, Modules, Plugins. I've written on this subject before in Is it native or what? ... with pictures!
As you will also see, from the discussion I've referred to, the problem in that case was not an incompatible Joomla extension, the problem was caused by an incompatible Community Builder plugin. So maybe, if you're using that product, you might have to look there, too. :S
