Installation problem was created by chaosisgod
Hi there!
i'm trying to install kunena forum, cos the reviews said it was cool but i'm having a very odd problem. the install says it's fine but the admin page doesn't work. let me paste some:
i uploaded the unpacked .rar to the site to /tmp and installed from there and received this:
I N S T A L L : Successful
php version: 5.2.6-1+lenny2 (Required >= 5.0.3)
mysql version: 5.0.51a-24 (Required > 4.1.19)
Thank you for using Kunena!

sounds good, right?
no!
cos when i try to open the admin page to config or not i get this:
Your Kunena installation is incomplete!
Because of the above errors your Forum is now Offline and Forum Administration has been disabled.
Possible reasons for this error:
1) Kunena installation process has failed or timed out (try to install it again)
2) You have removed some of the Kunena tables from your database
3) Your database has been corrupted
Our support forum can be found from: www.kunena.com
so, please help me out here
it's not my first run of install i have tried to install kunena twice before and i ran into problems i could solve... and to "reset" the whole install i deleted the components/com_kunena and administrator/components/com_kunena folders

We get asked this question a lot!
See Getting back to square one - which seems to have worked for the user concerned. There's also Downgrading Kunena in the Wiki.
Sometimes it's best to take the line of least resistance. Uninstall Kunena, yes, but also DROP all jos_fb* tables in your SQL database. There isn't any one-size-fits-all solution, I'm sorry to say. If you had problems with the first installation, that might explain why you're having problems now. Best thing is to start again with a fresh Kunena installation. After you've installed it, test it out. Don't make any changes to anything until after you are satisfied that everything works as you expect it to. If the Kunena installation fails again you may need to consider starting with a whole new Joomla installation.
Use the .ZIP file instead of the .RAR file - that's another useful idea, too. Good luck
