Question Automatic subscription on QuickReply

Hi there,

I am using Kunena 1.5.12 on a Joomla 1.5.21 installation.
When I am setting the "Automatic Subscrition" in the Backend, a user, which creates a new topic, will be automatically subscribed to this topic and will be notified by mail about any reply.

However, this does not apply to users, which uses the quickreply function to a topic.

Is there any way, where I can set the "Automatic subscription", so that also users, which quickreply to a topic, will be subscribed to this topic as well?

Any advise would be highly appreciated.

Best regards

Michael

I think you're right. QuickReply does not use the all the features of the full reply and, as you would expect, there is no ability to check/uncheck the "subscribe me to this topic" checkbox ... because there isn't one. I think that basically answers your question.

I also think this is the same behaviour in K 1.6, too.

Hi sozzled,

thanks for your feedback.
Is there any way to set "autosubscribe" also for the quickreply function, even without the possibility of the user to uncheck it?

This would be perfectly solving my issue.

Best regards

Michael

Hello,

I will see if i can add a checkbox in quick reply to choose if subscriptions need to be send or not, but for k1.6.1+.

I don't provide support by PM, because this can be useful for someone else.

Actually, I would have to be careful about "autosubscribe" using QuickReply.

In my case, I rarely use the QuickReply and also rarely use the subscribe to this topic features, and therefore these issues to not affect me. Where I am registered at websites that have the "Notify me of any replies in this topic" checkbox (checked by default), I usually uncheck this before I press the submit button ... unless I specifically choose to be notified. I receive many e-mails each day and I'm also very actively involved in a number of web-based discussions. I prefer to view my activities online, at my convenience, without being prompted by e-mail.

Let's say, for example, you have users at your site who use the QuickReply function only. They may do that because they don't want to receive email notifications (because they're unaware of how to uncheck the checkbox) or they may not even be aware that they can receive email notification at all. If the QuickReply were to operate as you asked, these people may be surprised when they start getting email notification and, some of them, will probably ask you how to disable the feature. In effect, I'm gently suggesting, you're in a lose situation whichever way you look at things.

One other solution is to gently ask you users to subscribe to topics before they submit a reply (by whatever means they use).
