Kunena 7.0.5 & Kunena 6.4.11 – Security Updates Released
The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.5 [K 7.0.5] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0.
The Kunena team is also pleased to announce the eleventh version of Kunena 6.4, a native Joomla extension for Joomla! 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4 and 6.0.
Question I am having a problem help!
I had the specific threads set for registered and have now changed the access to authors. I thought that this will mean that the member would have to be at least an author to view these threads.
The problem that I am having is that members who have greater authority than authors, say, publishers and managers are not able to view these threads either. If I change them to authors then they will not be able to view the threads whose access level are set for publishers.
This is really giving me grief because I want to allow the members who are participating access to the more interesting topics while limiting those who never post but want to read everything.
How can I do this?

IN SHORT:
J1.5x and K1.5x do not yet support ACLs ( access control lists ) and that is what you are going to need for what you are trying to do but in J1.6 and K2.0 (long way off) ACLs will be added so that restrictions can be better added to who can see and access each catagory of the forum, this includes give certain users extras over standard users.

In Kunena backend it states that when I select a specific access leverl, such as everybody, registered, all registered authors, etc.the selection is the minimum access level needed to be able to access that particular forum category. meaning that a member would at least need to be of that group to view the threads. People who have greater access than authors should be able to read them as well.
Authors can read threads for everybody, registered, all registerd, and authors, while publishers should be able to read threads for all of the previous mentioned categories as well as those for publishers.
