Is there a way to hack the scripts so automatically it shows the protocol when users paste links?

I don't think it really matters that the protocol is hidden. These days everyone generally assumes you're using HTTP. There are only a handful of occasions when you need to show that you mean something else (like FTP or MIME) and Gopher hasn't been around since Moses was in short pants. Internet hyperlinks usually stand out on websites as long as people can see them shown in a different colour.

This is definitely a case where you should use Occam's Razor. B)

There is a reason why I need the whole url. In my forum we paste multiple rapidshare links of our work (nothing copyrighted :) )and you need to copy those links and paste to a download manager. The download manager requires that protocol!
