Question forum restrictions

I'm needing to set up a section of my forums that is only available to select people. I do not want to give those select people authorization to the rest of my site. I could set them as an author, but then they have access i don't want them to have. is there any way to set this up through the forum software?

This is the perennial problem facing website managers using Joomla 1.5; the problem stems from Joomla's lack of granularity in security permissions. The way out of this morass is ACLs . ACLs will be implemented with Joomla 1.6.

As far as Kunena is concerned, there is currently no officially implemented mechanism to achieve anything other than what has been documented in Forum Setup, Permissions and Forums for special Groups . In other words, the current mechanism uses Joomla 1.5's current user types (author, editor, publisher, manager, etc.).
