Hi,

I have read on some external forums that that switching from MyISAM to InnoDB as the MySql stoarage engine can improve the performance.

Can anyone confirm this?

Yes and no. If you configure it to cache the whole database into RAM, then it's blazingly fast. With default configuration I don't think that it's so much faster.
