Question Private Messaging Options

I'm new to administering forums but I have successfully installed Kunena (1.5.4_stable) and am thrilled with the functionality (and ease of setting everything up). I understand that it's never a good idea for users of the forum to post personal info, therefore, I need a way for them to PM each other (I would really like to see a link under the Profile in Kunena).

Correct me if I've missed something but I believe I need a third party component to perform this function. I understand I can install JomSocial and Community Builder and that will give me the ability. I understand both are good tools but they provide way more functionality then I'm looking for in my forum and I'll end up having to turn off most of the functionality.

So, finally, to my question: is there a way I can allow users to PM without full installs of CB or JomSocial? I've tried UddeIM 1.7 and have installed the component succesfully but cannot figure out how to get a link from the profile. I see they have a plugin that does this but I think it requires CB (I haven't had much luck on their forum - so I was hoping to get some help here).

Hi Pelton, welcome to forum

Go to Componens -> Kunena Forum -> Kunena Configuration -> Integration and select Uddeim for private messaging component.



after that you user have button for PM

Components -> uddeIM -> Integration

Select "Kunena" for "Use profile links" etc.

You might also want to publish a menu item for uddeIM, e.g. a link to the Inbox from the USer menu.
