Sorry, my english is not very good, I have not well understood and explained my problem :blush:

I need results of search by topic.

I'd like only the topic title, if possible not the text of the topic and above all not the replies "Re:xxx".
I have too much results because the replies are included, and it's not necessary in my case.

Example with the keyword "polanski" :

Let me repeat and emphasise what you wrote: search by thread. This is quite a different question to sorting the discussion subjects.

I'm trying to conceptualise how a search feature can be developed and to point out the technical difficulties involved.

Yes, of course you do, and I think I understand what you're asking. I think, though, it's secondary to how to provide the means to search for results in the first place. Can we please stay focused on the first problem which is "how can I offer a function to search-by-topic?"

The second matter - "how to display the results of search by topic?" - is a SMOP (a small matter of programming). However, as I see from your reference to the sort by subject I suspect your question is different to that which gbastia has asked.

Perhaps what you want is a "search-forum-excluding-"Re"-in-the-subject"? Is that a better rephrasing of your question?

WEll, I think that Bambou have the same question than me.
I'm very sorry if I didn't make me understand good but what I was meaning is exactly the possibility to sort by subjects.

The solution ought to be fairly straightforward. I might work on it in my spare time. I imagine that changes need to be made to ../components/com_kunena/lib/kunena.search.class.php and ../components/com_kunena/default/plugin/advancedsearch/advsearch.php

Subject, thread, topic ... all these words are a little bit confusing for me :S
