Question Unread Posts Issue?

I've search for something related to this topic and didn't really find a post regarding my question (although I did see a post about better session management in a future release) so here goes:

It seems that my board will mark messages as unread (new!) only since my last login. If there are tons of unread messages, and I can't read them all, or have to leave, once I return the new! messages are only those marked as updated/created since my last login. Is this the intended design or is there a way to leave a message as new until each user has read that message?

I've used numerous other boards and that seems to be pretty standard so just curious if I'm missing something in my config?

I think you've summed up your problem statement quite well. I don't think there's a better answer than one provided a while ago, namely, before you logout your should "mark all forums read" - an option available on the "categories" tab - and the next time you login the new (unread) messages will display properly. That's what I do and it seems to work. I think you're right: there is supposed to be "better session management" in a future release. For the time being you're in the same category as everyone else.

Cool, what I'm really looking for, is those times when I read only a few of the new messages (and want to read the remaining) but have to leave the site or close my browser (usually because of work - damn work). I'd ideally love for those messages to still be marked as new since I havn't read them yet.

I'll keep tracking it then and hope it makes the features for 1.6
