hey guys - I am not a developer, i created a site for my ball team using joomla so just keep that in mind :)

I wanted a forum component so i looked around and before hearing about Kunena, i installed Fireboard the other day. After digging a little further i read about Kunena and uninstalled Fireboard and installed Kunena. I hadn't had much content on the forum yet so the the migration seemed to work, except for the default_xxx color schemes...which i have read the instructions on how to fix and still can't get to work...so i am on the default_ex for now.)

Anyway, my main question is a problem that i had with both the Fireboard and now the Kunena installations. My login module in the built in Joomla mod and it appears on the bottom left of my the tool bar and works just fine. When i log in as a test user, it logs me into the board no problem. However, when a non-logged in user clicks login from the Forum page, it brings them to the Login page that says "to access the private area of the site, please log in" but the actual login fields are not displayed. I see the key graphic and the Forgot Password/Username and Register links are there and work, but the actual input fields for logging in aren't showing.

what am i missing? if you want to check it out:

Yes, this behaviour does appear rather odd. I don't know what causes it or how to fix it properly. Maybe this is a Kunena (and Fireboard) "feature"; it was always designed to work that way? :S

Because you also offer another place to login and register on your web page, you could disable the login/register options from the Kunena profile box. In fact, I've chosen to not display the profilebox entirely, to avoid the confusion. There are many suggestions contained in these forums on how to achieve these results.

It would be good to know what's the cause of "to access the private area of the site, please log in" but not offering a login form on the page.

I was even wondering if it was a permission setting on the user login module, but it set to public access. Any ideas appreciated!
