If you upgrade to K 1.5.12 and use the default_ex template designed for K 1.5.12 (and don't change it) then you shouldn't have any problems ... but, of course, there are no guarantees in the world of open source software development, are there?
I looked at your website - it seems to work OK in FF 3.6.8 - but it really doesn't matter if it looks good when it doesn't work for the different browsers that your users have, does it?
My recommendation: upgrade to K 1.5.12 and use the unmodified default_ex template for Kunena even if only to see if it fixes your IE issues.

Upgrading Kunena (from any K 1.5.x version) is easy: just run the upgrade procedure. Unlike many other Joomla components, there's no need to uninstall Kunena first. As always, of course, you should take a backup of your website just in case there's a problem with the upgrade procedure. It's all explained in the companion Wiki site: docs.kunena.com B)
