Kunena 7.0.6 & Kunena 6.4.12 – Security Updates Released

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.6 [K 7.0.6] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0.

The Kunena team is also pleased to announce the twelfth version of Kunena 6.4, a native Joomla extension for Joomla! 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4 and 6.0.

Question displaying images/links properly outside of Kunena

I'm trying to decide on a method for displaying the latest topics as a frontpage component. In other words, sort of a blog populated by forum activity. Two options I'm looking at are jerry's mod_kunenalatest (in a custom module position) and Feedbingo which turns RSS feed entries into articles.

My problem: None of the options I've tried thus far properly display images or hyperlinks. Both images and links are represented by their URLs as text only.

Is there any way to retain that formatting when the info is displayed outside of Kunena?

Joomla 1.5.18
Kunena 1.5.11

I've been searching and reading for the past three hours and am surprised I've only found one thread that references this issue. So I hope there's some solution and I'm just a lousy searcher..

Thanks very much for any insights!

Hello,

what do you mean by retain that formatting ?

I don't provide support by PM, because this can be useful for someone else.

I've been thinking about this issue over the past couple of days. I still have no helpful advice to offer, probably because I've had a lot of important matters to attend to and I simply haven't bothered to spend a few hours searching the internet to find even one example of the idea. So, basically, we're trying to invent something totally new.

"Retain the formatting" Basically, the user wants his frontpage 'blog constructed, on-the-fly, from his Kunena message database. Putting this another way, he wants something that looks deeper than the Kunena message text and that translates BBcode into HTML. In other words, he wants to show not only the latest message text that was posted at his forum, he also wants to render those messages as they were marked-up in the forum. For example, if the message contains a quoted string, he wants the quote "box", if there was coloured text, he wants the text coloured, if there were inline images, he wants to see the inline images. In other words, he wants all the features offered by view.php included in his frontpage 'blogger.

I hope this helps to explain the issues and the complexities ... but I still don't have any answer. :)

Sozzled, that's it exactly.

I suppose most "latest posts" types of modules are intended for minimal display in normal module positions and components made for pulling RSS info wouldn't be looking for BBcode. What a quandary!

If anybody has any suggestions or recommendations I'm very interested in hearing them. In the meantime I'll keep looking around and crossing my fingers...

These fellows attempted something similar. Don't know if this is helpful or not, it's all Greek to me...

punbb.informer.com/forums/topic/20604/bbcode-in-rss-feeds/

I found a couple of BBcode-to-HTML parsers but I guess that's something that would have to be incorporated into a module/component?

pear.php.net/package/HTML_BBCodeParser

Well, at least it seems like it might be possible. Here's some (non-Joomla) forum software that seems to use BBcode but outputs RSS with HTML:

fluxbb.org/forums/viewtopic.php?pid=25745
fluxbb.org/forums/extern.php?action=feed&fid=13&type=atom

Something like that would be fantastic!

Well, hey, look what I just found:

I've made the modification and it seems to work great!
