[SOLVED] Moderator Emails sent to non-moderators was created by pmpodcast
All,
I had 1.0.8 installed and had problems with the fact that whenever we made a post in one of the forums, a "moderator" notification email was sent out to a number of users that were not moderators. (You can find that discussion in the 1.0.8 support forum at www.kunena.com/forum?func=view&catid=104&id=13954 )
We have now upgraded to 1.0.9
Unfortunately, we're still having moderator notification emails that are sent out to users that are neither moderators, nor have a "subscription" nor are they joomla super admins. Here is what I did:
- We upgraded to 1.0.9
- I created a post in one of the forums
- About 20 seconds later I had received 2 moderator notification emails for a couple of test-users that I had created and a third user forwarded the message she had received.
- Neither of these users is a moderator or joomla super user or has a subscription set.
This is even more perplexing because of these security settings:
- The "Security" setting "E-mail Moderators" is set to "No".
- The "Security" setting "E-Mail Administrators" is set to "Yes" - but my admin account never got a notification.
I'm starting to think that a complete un-install and fresh install might be in order here.
Thoughts?
Thank you!
Cornelius

Hm, strange. Please look in your database, table (default) jos_fb_config if the fields
mailmod and mailadmin have the value 0
Furthermore: Is perhaps another PMS - System involved? Disable PMS-Systems for test.

Hi Lintzy,
Thanks for the tips! I first reviewed the installed joomla extensions/components and there is no other PMS (personal message system) installed.
Then I checked the settings and they were
mailmod=0
mailadmin=1
So I went ahead and changed mailadmin to 0 at this point.
However, my idea is that moderators/admins do indeed receive emails from the system, so that they are "pinged" to respond to posts. Thus setting it to =0 is not what I had intended.
So... I'd appreciate any other tips as far as where I could go look to solve this (Would a DB export help?). And if I cannot resolve it then I see not other option than to completely uninstall and reinstall Kunena to start clean.
Thank you!

Hi Cornelius,
you are right, normally it should work, if mailadmin is set to 1 and they should be able to receive e-mails, yes.
So you set mailadmin to 0 and the e-mails were sent furthermore?
I am sorry, I have no idea. Matias should look into this thread.

Lintzy,
I have set both mailmod=0 and mailadmin=0 and the system did not send out any messages. At least, I have not received any feedback from users that they have received any.
Thanks!

Thanks for reply. But like you told yourself: The moderators and admins should be able to receive e-mails (mailadmin = 1).
So it seems to be a bug, in my humble opinion
