If one was to be using the Default_Gray CSS, White Joomla 1.0 theme and using the second to latest Fireboard version, how would one be able to make the quote background a different color? Right now, it seems that it is using the same background as my theme and will not display the quote box. Anyone help?

Take a look at the css for quote, you could use firebug.
I would look for the color code used in backbround,a nd repeat search to see where else it's used

What would need changing? I already changed both CSS lines for quote but that didn't do anything.

but colour codes are 6 simbols codes:

Change background for your site for a moment. Make sure the quote boxes are shown then, iof not it may be your quote box is somewhat really invisible
