i dont know if this was really the design of the new default_ex, or maybe it was just overlooked.. but with the old numinu you can see the sticky topic icon in the category view and also in the recent discussions view..
check here in kunena.com,
with sticky topic icon in "category":
without sticky topic icon in "recent discussions":
i agree that the new default_ex template of kunena is way better than the old numinu of fb.. but if a sticky topic icon can also be seen in the "recent discussions" and "my discussions" is way much better
thanks.

Interesting suggestion. Should the sticky messages be shown in yellow, too?
This has been the way for default_ex from FireBoard times. It has not been changed for Kunena.

I think this is a great suggestion. :woohoo:
Everyone uses forums differently: some people prefer the "categories" view, some people prefer the "recent discussions" view and, I suspect, the great majority use the "my discussions" view because that's all they're interested in and they ignore everything else.
One way of drawing attention to important discussions is for users to "vote" for them (after a fashion) by selecting the discussion as a favourite. This places a star next to the topic. The problem is that most users do not use the button.
The other way of drawing attention to important discussions is for a forum moderator to transform a posting into a "sticky" but this loses its impact (as bytebandit01 has clearly illustrated) everywhere other than the "categories" view. Even so, when it's important to get announcements out quickly and draw people's attention to important discussion topics, the sticky can be a great tool ... but it also can be misused, too!
Highlighting (in the "recent discussions" and "my discussions" views) locked sticky posts will only be effective for a short period of time - depending on the level of forum activity - as more recent posting activity pushes these "inactive" discussions down the list. As long as people use the "categories" view, locked, inactive, sticky posts serve some purpose.
And, yes, I like to see sticky topics in yellow!

PS. They are just yellow, I don't want to have 2 screens of sticky messages either..
