Introduction

The Kunena team is proud to announce the arrival of Kunena 5.0.2 [K 5.0.2] which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 3.6.2. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 5.0 and issues discovered during the development stages of K 5.0.

The key distinctions of K 5.0.2 are:

  • 26 bugs fixed
  • 33 enchaments
  • Find the full changes: Here.

Update instructions

Because K5.0 has depricated the old templates, you should do a backup first (files and database). After the update. You need to recheck the settings. Kunena Configuration and on the template itself (template manager - click on the template name).

Upgrading to K 5.0 involves changes that may affect Kunena's interoperability with other extensions installed on your site. For this reason it is advisable that you first test K 5.0.2 on a test site before you upgrade your live production site(s). At this stage the team is not treating interoperability with other Joomla extensions as the topmost priority. The main priority at this time is about installation/upgrade and operability as a standalone Joomla component.

K 5.0.2 is available for download on the download page.

Introduction

The Kunena team is proud to announce the arrival of Kunena 4.0.12 [K 4.0.12] which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 3.6.2. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 4.0 and issues discovered during the development stages of K 4.0.

What to do for keeping template and all top_icons in order during or after upgrade to 5.x ?
The 'looks' of the website and forum chnges dramatically..

We use blue_eagle, and appreciate to keep it that way..

As it is now: tref.eu/nl/overzicht/recent

and we would like to maintain that view/template/'looks'

Thank you in advance for your est. advise..

I was hoping that I could easily resolve any template issues that popped up. I never could get the forum to display properly even with the default Protostar template. I had to restore the backup I had made, including the database, to get back to normal.

I'm not complaining. We were given ample warning that this could happen. The problems I had could probably have been worked out if I had the time.

I'm just posting my experience for those who might decide to go down this road once they have the 4.0.12 upgrade installed. Backup, backup, backup if you decide to upgrade to K 5.0

Het aanzien van de interface na een upgrade naar 5.x is heel mooi, maar er veranderd veel. Hoe nehouden we onze 'looks' ?
We hebben 1 template in gebruik, met aangepaste kleuren.
zie tref.eu/nl/overzicht/recent
Dat zouden we graag zo willen houden ná de upgrade.
Graag uw vakkundig advies, dat als altijd zéér op prijs wordt gesteld !

Thanks for the tips. If I had known about the load bootstrap option I might could have made it work. When I get some free time I will try again. I might try an new Joomla template at the same time. How can I be sure a new Joomla template would be compatible with K 5.0?

If your joomla template doesn't have the modern classes/style. then you can enable the "Load Bootstrap" option on the crypsis settings.

If you have to many issues you can go back to 4.0.12 by just installing the k4.0.12 package. There is no need to restore the database.

I tried:
*ctrl+F5
*Clear Cache
*Clear Expired Cache
Same results. Upgrade seems to go smoothly. Upgrade window reports all plugins updated but Kunena version is still 4.0.11 and I still get message that updates are available.
Thanks for your hard work on the update!
