5.2.8 -> 5.2.14 ‘Invalid extension update’ was created by Moilleadóír
I’ve only recently updated this site to Joomla 4 and I get this error when trying to run the offered update.
If I try to install by web it tells me it’s installing from update.kunena.org/5.2/pkg_kunena.xml and the install fails with something like “Couldn’t detect manifest” (my message is not in English).
Ideally I’d like to get to the latest version with the original structure intact, though there’s not much content.
What is the best way to go from here?

For Joomla 4 you need Kunena 6!

This is just the update that Joomla 4 is offering me.
When trying to install Kunena from Joomla 4, using the “Install from Web” tab and with “Current Joomla Version” selected, 5.2 was also the only option given (maybe because that’s what was installed).
So, the procedure is to uninstall everything, then download v.6 from here an install? Will this remove tables from the database? Does it depend on what you remove and the order?

Only files are deleted. Your database tables/records remain intact.

Thanks!
I’ve got version 6 installed now, but none of the categories, forum name, etc. appear. They do still seem to be in the database, but they don’t appear in the backend or the forum frontend. E.g. jos_kunena_categories still contains all the categories.
When I run the diagnostics I get this error:
“Exception throw at line 498 in file /home/xxx/public_html/libraries/vendor/joomla/database/src/Pdo/PdoDriver.php with message 42S22, 1054, Unknown column 'a.parentid' in 'where clause'”

Did you go to Kunena dashboard after installing Kunena 6? If not, install again (over existing installation) and go directly to dashboard.
