I'm setting up a new Forum. I've searched on this forum for the item 'polls' but I just can not find any article about 'how to set up' a poll. Most probably there are too many subjects. Fact is I can't find some documentation as too how to set up a poll.

Pls advice

Han

I have the same question and didn't find that link helpful.

The icons shown for a new post don't look like those shown in that image, they look like those appearing on this site (lightbulb etc.). My plugins list doesn't look like that shown in that page and there's no polls plugin listed and I can't find anything about polls elsewhere in the configuration, except for enabling or disabling topic icons.

Not sure what I'm missing.

That is probably true. I did not write that page in the Wiki - and I have not updated much it since it was written about 4 years ago - and so some of the things you see in the images have probably changed a lot.

This is probably also true. The images were taken from a version of Joomla that does not exist any more.

The Wiki article mentions that there are two things you need to do:

(1) There are options in the Kunena configuration that define, "globally" - across your whole forum - what people can do in relation to
  • Are polls allowed at all?
  • Maximum number of polling options for each poll
  • Time between successive votes
  • Can members vote only once or can they vote more than once?
  • If users can vote more than once, what is the maximum number of times they can vote?
  • Display or not display the names of those who voted

(2) Polling is enabled / disabled on a category-by-category basis. By default, polling is disabled (even if it's allowed in the configuration settings).

I agree with you. The Wiki article may not have made these points clear or as simply as I have just written them. The images are out of date. The article would benefit by someone rewriting the Wiki article.

Is there anything else that I can do for you?

Forgive me if I'm overlooking it (amazing response time btw) but I haven't yet stumbled on the per category setting for polls.

In the Wiki article - the second (out-of-date) image - are the words "you can disable or enable polls in categories of your choice, by using the Kunena category manager, these are the two parts for configuing polls in backend".

Use the Kunena Category Manager.

Is there anything else I can help you with?
