Question Jomsocial integration

Has anybody suggested jomsocial integration? Not just with menu links but actually embedding inside and not leaving the community? I know other components achieve this but I was curious as to how difficult it is? Is this something we can look forward to in the future on top of the current menu integration provided?

I'm not sure what you mean or are referring to. The integration with Kunena and Jomsocial seems pretty intense to me.

Ya but it navigates you away from community pages, the user toolbar disapears and your breadcrumbs go back to home->forum. The 'Forum' link in the user toolbar takes you away from Jomsocial. By integration I mean 'injecting' kunena into the community pages...haven't you used extensions that do this? Or at least read about ones that 'integrate' with jomsocial? basically it would be taking two seperate components and making it look like kunena was part of jomsocial.

Replied by John on topic Re: Jomsocial integration
I use Kunena and are experimenting with Jomsocial...I agree, both components work together when loggin in, using the same avatar and profile......but then it stops. They just co-operate, they are not integrated.

Integrated in my opinion would mean they look and feel like one, now its just 2 components, you'll have to leave one to go to the other.

I'm still in doubt whether to install Jomsocial or not....will users actually leave the forum to post pictures or movies in Jomsocial component? They can post them in the forums as well. A wall for leaving comments? You can make a chat like forum. Integrating the menu's and CSS style would make it look more like one piece, enhancing each other....like it is now? I don't know yet.

Just my 2 cents.

I'm on the fence also on whether or not to go with joomsocial. I'm really just looking for a component like Photopost for VB. I love the idea of personal pages with photo albums, but don't want 2 seperate areas for communication on the same topics. I contacted photopost and they have no plans to integrate with joomla or kunena at this time. I may end up trying joomsocail in the end if I can find what im looking for...

The nice thing about jomsocial is it allows overriding so if you want to write your own templates, or have templates that do this you can have a concurrent theme and not just a 'jomsocial theme' and a 'website theme'. Also integrating modules wasn't too difficult but I needed modules inline with jomsocial, making them look as if they are 'one' and that wasn't too hard (like actually inside the front page). As far as achieving component in component I really have no idea, I just figured that it is possible and i've seen it done but I guess why bother if the people making kunena aren't getting paid to do it....I like having a forum for support though, a lot easier and pretty much like a ticket system....that would be a good plugin to, marking posts as 'discussion', 'ticket', 'solved', etc.. for kunena
