Hello, I built a site locally using xaamp and installed the Kunena forum with no problem. I then transferred to the remote server, all still fine. I then enabled SEO in the global settings after changing htaaccess.txt to .htaaccess as instructed. After this i could not get into the catergories I had created I got this message from the browser

The page isn't redirecting properly

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete

* This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept
cookies.

After lots of mucking about I thought sod it I will uninstall and install again - now I get this message from the module installer in joomla

* It was not possible to copy the selected file.
* JInstaller::install: Failed to copy file: /tmp/install_4d121a278e8b9/api.php to /www/business/4383a/administrator/components/com_kunena/api.php

Now i'm stuck - what can I do - all properties are set to 0777 and safe mode is disabled.

Please help this has been very fustrating as all was OK until I enabled Joomla SEO!

Thanks for answering my query

I unzipped the package and uploaded the the directory to various places within joomla on the server, but always get the following error message:

'Please enter a package directory'

When I try to upload the ziped package I get:

* It was not possible to copy the selected file.
* JInstaller::install: Failed to copy file: /tmp/install_4d132c613b328/api.php to /www/business/4383a/administrator/components/com_kunena/api.php

Enabling Joomla SEO is sometimes a little tricky. Your K 1.6 configuration report may provide us with a couple of clues. Have you read Search Engine Optimization (SEO) in the Wiki which recommends how you should enable Joomla SEO properly?

The other thing to consider is the folder and file permissions. This document may help: Securing Kunena

I can not give you a configuration report because I can't install it. As it was not working I uninstalled and started again. I have checked and rechecked and all directories are writeable.

The host is Fasthost (set up by client) - I usually use Rochen. Maybe I need to switch.

OK I have now moved the site to another host. All worked OK. I then turned on the SEO settings in Joomla and renamed the .htaccess file. Then the links to the forum did not work. So I uninstalled Kunena and reinstalled (this time I could install the component using this Rochen host unlike above so we are getting somewhere). I remade the links to the forum but i get the following error

Not Found

The requested URL /home/focussb/public_html/index.php was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I can now give you the Report you asked for:

You can check the site here:

www.bexhillsc.co.uk is another site where I have used Kunena using the same host and with the SEO enabled.

Is it a problem with the latest version maybe.

Please help this is delaying the site launch.

Many thanks!!
