The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.4 [K 7.0.4] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0

Hello there!

I have made an attempt to upgrade from Kunena 1.6.1. to 1.6.3. on Joomla 1.5.22. CMS. On installing, I received an error stating that JInstaller was unable to copy the file kunena.php to the target directory (/web/components/com_kunena).
In my FTP client, I (temporarily) set the target folder attributes to 777 (or: write). It didn't help.

Regretfully, any reference to upgrade instructions (even in the Kunena release announcement ) are to an outdated page . Attention to this issue would be appreciated!

I have taken the Forum and the entire website off line before my installation attempt. I was afraid though to uninstall the current version of the forum--as is suggested in the outdated upgrade instructions.

My main questions are:
1. Do I or do I not need to uninstall the previous version of Kunena Forum, before trying to install the latest version? (Technically, I'd call that a fresh installation, not an update or upgrade.)

2. If I need to uninstall the previous version, will I keep the current posts on the website once the new version is installed?

3. Is there anything else I am overlooking?

I am adding my configuration settings below:

Hello,

1. You don't need to uninstall previous kunena version
3. I don't know, do you read it : docs.kunena.org/index.php/K_1.6_Technical_Requirements ?

I don't provide support by PM, because this can be useful for someone else.

Thank you, Xillibit,

for your quick reply! I appreciate it!

I checked the page that you indicated. At first, I skipped that, figuring that if I can run Kunena 1.6.1. then I should be able to run 1.6.3. as well.
I guess not.

It turned out that I had an older version of the Mootools javascript running. I enabled the upgrade to
Mootools version 1.2.4. (which I checked)
Further I verified:
PHP Version 5.3.2-1ubuntu4.7

MySQL Version 5.1.41
Joomla Version: 1.5.22

I set the ../web/components/com_kunena-folder attributes in my FTP client to all write (777) once more.

I did manage to install Kunena login 1.6.2. without a problem--but this isn't going to help me much at this point.

Installing Kunena 1.6.3. gives me issues:

("unable to copy kunena.php to the ../web/components/com_kunena folder")

I also tried installing 1.6.3. from URL, but it returned this error message:

I would appreciate some more help.

Thank you in advance!

Thanks for your feedback, Maszek.

We spent several hours yesterday and today discussing and rewriting the K 1.6 Technical Requirements article. This document should be a must-read document for all users because it should help everyone to avoid the common problems that we see asked in this forum every day.

However the "technical requirements" are only one part of the documentation that we need to revisit and rewrite. I think the next most important document is one that shows people how to install Kunena.

Thanks for your reflections, Sozzled!

I hope the Kunena developers will come up with some more suggestions!

I made my Kunena Forum only visible for registered users after repeated attacks of spambots. I don't want to make it visible again without having the latest security updates. This is the underlying reason for my attempts to upgrade.

Cheerio!

(after my update to Kunena Login 1.6.2, my configuration setting are as follows:

And my PHP settings meet the required minimum as well:

If you have upgraded to K1.6.2 why you have still 1.6.1 version displayed in your kunena report configuration ?
