XML parsing & Internal Error displays was created by Blogmudgeon
Setup is Kunena 1.6 stable, JomSocial 1.8.10, and Joomla! 1.5.20. When a user logs in, the drawer position at the top of the site template displays the error message "Kunena COM_KUNENA_INTERNAL_ERROR" The only error I can find is that the menu at the top of the forum does not display anything but search anymore. That is recent--the error message is old.
When in the forum and a member posts a message, they get the error message twice that is displayed in the screenshot. The message does post correctly. Any thoughts?

I have uninstalled the Kunena menu and discuss plugins--as I do not need either. The new forum menu is being built into the mainmenu and a custom blog/forum tab on the JS community menu. This new menu is created with toolbar editor, and involves no hooks between Kunena and JomSocial.
But--eliminating these items and making sure that the MySQL tables contained no artifacts did not eliminate either error message problem. Still the parsing error and the internal error messages. An option is to turn off system messages in the site template--something I would like to avoid because it does not solve for the root problem, and takes away from overall site functionality as several other components use this messaging feature to confirm certain things or provide further options.
This did not cause the native Kunena forum menu to reappear either. Only search is present. I have tried other templates and the result is always the same.
Any other ideas?

Kunena internal error is always failing SQL query and should be taken seriously. You need to change your language, though, to see what the error was -- it's missing from your translation.

Thanks Matias. This issue is just one of several. I installed Kunena on a fresh site--and proceeded to build the complete JomSocial community up from there. This was replicated on another development site that is identical--just serving another city. The failures were the same on both sites. The list includes the notorious "quote" issue with Rocket Theme templates, a "disappeared" forum menu tabs after integrating with JomSocial, three or four different of these XML/parsing/token errors, no method to throttle the JomSocial activity stream length without limiting the entire JS activity stream (with commensurate RT CSS issues in 960/Gantry templates). Then there are the mootools update issues...
These are my first ventures into JomSocial socionets--other client or personal sites have always been developed around SMF or vBulletin in a custom PERL page environment--or using Joomla! if CMS was necessary. The factor has been scale. One PERL/vB site has 418K members as of today! Otherwise for Joomla!, my development protocol is solidly centered around Rocket Theme. After four years with them, I have no desire to change.
With all this in mind and production launch dates looming, I made the decision to integrate another solution--Agora. I am sure that Kunena works reasonably well in non-RT environments with very simple JomSocial deployments. Unfortunately, this is not what I develop--and since my income derives from website development & publication--I cannot be worried about multiple integration issues that may not be easily accomplished or result in compromising other areas of function.
Best of luck to everyone on the development team--and I will continue to follow improvements on this component across time. Perhaps I will revisit deploying it a couple new iterations down the line when many of the repetitive issues I find in these forums are resolved. It's a good looking forum with lots of potential.

P.S. Consider adding better user controls (automated infraction and ban systems) on the back end. It makes for a much easier to manage board. Resolving the bb editor controversy would be nice too. Large scale usability studies show that non-techies and those "ordinary" users without a geekstreak do not like or really understand bb editing. People are somewhat stupid--and enjoy the convenience and simplicty of WYSIWYG editing. It's not 2002 anymore...

I've been away for few days, so I've not been following this and the other discussions. Please check your PM if K1.6.1 fixes (some of) your issues.
There seem to be something wrong in your site -- I have never seen XML parsing errors anywhere. All our xml files have been validated, so there really should not be any issues with them -- unless something has changed in latest JomSocial (I have 1.8.9 installed).
In my test sites I have no issues with RT-templates, either. Even this site -- Kunena.com -- uses RT template.
Kunena 1.6 is very new -- just released less than 2 weeks ago and uses a lot of new technology, which haven't been used before in Joomla. This includes Mootools 1.2, Menu aliases and very advanced routing. Within a week we plan to release K1.6.1, which is meant to fix most incompatibility issues that have been seen in our support forum.
