Subscriptions not working. was created by NicholasJohn16
I have a user that's having a problem with subscriptions.
For two of our categories, he's not receiving any e-mails when new posts or replies are made.
I have no idea why this is happening. It's been happening for awhile and I was hoping the upgrade to 1.6 would fix the problem; it's been happening since 1.5. Although, I never used 1.5.10, I went from 1.5.8 to 1.5.12 to 1.6 Stable.
This is only happening with one of my users in two of the forums, which is the weird part.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what could cause this?
Thanks.

If the issue is only with one user: Maybe those emails are treated as spam?

I have the same problem. I'm working with Kunena 1.6.3 on Joomla 1.5 and I would rather not update because I'm the type of person that is just glad he got everything to work in the first place.
The subscriptions function did work at one time, but somehow it doesn't anymore. I have read all the threads that are on this topic and have found no solution. Hopefully someone here can help me out.
The e-mail in my joomla configuration is set up correctly. New member mails and 'report to moderator function' in Kunena both work fine. I've tried disabling UddeIM mod since I thought that it might be the problem, it wasn't. None of my forum members receive subscription mails. Obviously, I checked the spam folder(s), this was not the problem.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

I've actually resolved the subscription problem by upgrading to Kunena 1.7 very recently.
In the end, it turned out to be an ACL issue, where those that were subscribing to the category, while still had view access cause of some weird settings I had created, they weren't getting the e-mail notifications.
ACL in 1.7 is much clearer and I was able to configure the categories exactly as I wanted them.
If the subscriptions were working for you originally, but aren't now, this might not be the same problem that you have. Have you changed any of the category ACL recently? If not, I'd look for a more systemic problem, like changes to your servers mail capabilities. Are e-mails being sent out from other components on your site or other categories?

Thank you for your reply Nicholas. Your suggestion about it possibly being an ACL issue got me thinking in a different direction. I had set all the permissions on the categories to 'all registered' (members only forum), which should be fine but didn't work. I changed one to 'registered', tested it et voilĂ ! My test account received a notification upon new messages being posted.
Am I correct that the 'registered' setting is essentially the same thing as 'all registered'?
Anyway, thank you for helping me out. I guess I'll be changing ACL to 'registered'

'Registered' should pertain only to users that have the access level 'Registered' while 'All Registered' should include all registered user, (ie. Registered, Author, Publisher, Editor, etc.), but I remember hearing about a bug in Kunena 1.6 that caused a problem where Kunena didn't recognize the "include child groups" setting. That may be what's causing the problem.
Glad to have helped.
