Question RSS errors with 1.6 and outlook

Our users are reporting that outlook is complaining about the RSS feeds.

disable or upgrade these two and that will sort your problems: (mod_swmenufree) and (com_joomlastats)

my guess is it relies on the old mootools 1.1 libs that are no long compatible with joomla's mootool 1.2

FYI: i also see you have LEGACY enabled you will solve alot of problem by removing or upgrading all modules or components that needs this plugin as they will only case you more problems.


what sef component are you using as thrid party sef components have all been known to give problems with the new kunena, we recommend only using CoreSEF included with joomla, if you are not using SEF i would disable the below setting in your configuartion:

Joomla! SEF rewrite: Enabled

once all of this is done that shoudl sort your RSS error and give you a nice stable bed in which to build your site.

Thanks for the response, We use sh404sef for SEF and have it enabled for Kunena. I will be bypassing it to see how that goes.

I think this issues is specific to outlook, the xml envelope looks fine and when I read the RSS feed in firefox it looks just fine.

I would love to get rid of the warnings you noticed, but the developers have not corrected them yet. We have one component that still requires legacy.

The RSS issue is more likely a sh404 and Kunena 1.6 issue since the only change made was kunena, the issues only started with 1.6RC1 the RSS feeds in outlook ran fine with Kunena 1.5x

yer sh404sef at the moment dont have SEF support for Kunena 1.6 this could be the root of your problem.

at the moment the only SEF components confirmed to work with K1.6 are :

CoreSEF - part of joomla itself

JoomSEF - from artio plugin availible form our KED to make thsi work for K1.6


NOTE: if someone sends me a copy of the kunena plugin for sh404sef i will modify it for K1.6 compatability

Thanks for the ideas but it turns out I am my own wost enemy....

I had Kunena set for
Registered Users Only = yes

This not surprisingly stops all anonymous RSS readers from working such as outlook.....

well yes that would do it lolol are you having no issues with sh404sef ?? is it working for K1.6 ??

i would also sort the other issue i mentioned too
