Question User profile, birthdate minus 1 on save

I have a 1.6.1 Joomla site with Kunena 1.6.3. When the user edits his profile and enters birthdate it changes on save to correct date minus 1!? If I enter July 16 it will save as July 15???
Also - present local time shows 2 hours off. And UTC= GMT+0.00 when the server timezone is set to Stockholm, which means GMT +1.
Any suggestions?

We are aware of this issue. The issue only affects Joomla 1.6 sites. The problem lies with a defect in Joomla for dates before 1 November 1971 Dates after that time are unaffected. The problem requires Joomla 1.6 to be fixed - the problem affects all Joomla extensions - and there will be no further fixes made to J! 1.6; the next "fix" will be J! 1.7 expected some time in June/July this year.

The timezone issue is also a Joomla 1.6 problem and, because of that problem, users cannot change the timezone within in K 1.6.4. If I saw your K 1.6 configuration report I might be able to make a better guess as to the cause of your problem. Thanks for yr quick answer. I don't think the config report will give you any futher info, but only take yr time
Then I will leave the idea of making a Joomla site for my club. I have about 150 users waiting for a steady solution and they dont want to wait any more...
I have reported a number of bugs in the core Joomla too (so far without respons) - and they are more serious than loosing a day in birtdate
