Question Attachments not found

Hi,

I have a problem with my Kunena installation - none of the attachments are being uploaded, therefore every time someone posts something, Kunena says that the attachment is not found. Images work well though, so I'm not sure where the problem is. I read in one of the other threads that some users resolved this issue by setting appropriate permissions to /media/kunena/attachments directory. I have tried to follow their footsteps to no avail.

The forum is located here: forum.stormbl.org and here are Kunena logs (perhaps it's worth mentioning that the site and Kunena are using Serbian Cyrillic language).

Any help would be appreciated.

Could you please post the URL of that topic - it will save me the time looking for it. ;) Thanks.

Yes, I remember the issues, I remember the topic and I remember my participation in it, but you saved me the time to search for it.

The reason that I wanted this topic to have a link to the other topic is because I believe the other topic holds the key to solving this particular issue (and therefore we will be helping other people who may find themselves in your similar situation).

Sometimes these problems of "I can't upload an attachment to the forum" are due to folder permissions. Sometimes it's because people want to upload a 10 Mb attachment (and your site doesn't provide the means to allow the upload via the forum) and sometimes it's because the size of the attachment (or the type of attachment) is outside the parameters that you've allowed on your forum.

Your configuration only permits the following files to be uploaded: txt,rtf,pdf,zip,tar.gz,tgz,tar.bz2 and these files must be less than 120 Kb. Does the problem you exceed those parameters?

Well, this is embarrassing. It's the first time I'm using Kunena, nevertheless these options are so easily accessible that I cannot forgive myself for wasting your time on this matter.

Yes, this was the issue - I have set the limits a bit higher and now everything is just fine.

However, I must notice that Kunena hasn't given me a warning about the file being too large. It will not be my problem any more, but other forum users might encounter the same error if they try to upload a file larger than the current limit. Is this by design? I think a warning message should be displayed after a failure.

Thank you very much, sozzled, for helping me on this issue, as silly as it is.

No, there's no harm in asking this question. My fervent hope is that someone else, who feels "lost" may use their initiative and search the forum and find the same solution as we have got in this case.

I'm surprised that Kunena does not issue some kind of message when you try to attach something that exceeds the settings you've allowed on your forum.

I tried this myself on a test site. Even though my message was posted, there was an error message at the top of the page that read "Failed to upload file 'xxxxxxxxx.yyy': You need to use an allowed file extension (for images: jpg, jpeg, gif, png and other files: txt, rtf, pdf, zip, tar.gz, tgz, tar.bz2)." Yes, the message was posted on the forum with "Attachment xxxxxxxxx.yyy not found" but the reason why the attachment was "not found" was explained at the time the message was posted.

It's kind of tough to know how to better show people where to find this answer. It was sort of staring you in the face, except you were looking at the bottom of the page instead of at the top of the page.
