Question Moderator username vs name

My problem is that ONLY for the moderators, it is showing username not name where it lists the moderators for the board(s). All posts and everywhere else applicable it is using "name" as expected.

Setting Show Moderators in Category Index = No appears to have no effect.

I amusing Kunena 1.6 and Community Builder.

In Kunena configuration.users I have
Display User Name = No (we want to use the NAME, not username)

configuration.frontend I have
Show Moderators in Category Index = No

Is there anything I can do about this?

Replied by sozzled on topic Moderator username vs name
G'day, Maryk, and welcome to Kunena.

Moderators are users. This should be an across-the-forum setting. If everyone else's "real" names are displayed on their posts then, so too, your moderators "real" names should be displayed in the same way. I'm not aware of this problem but, then again, I've not spent an extensive amount of time testing the effects of every one of Kunena's dozens of configuration options, either.

Can you show us a page where this is demonstrated, please? A screen image capture will probably be good enough.

I have inserted screen caps:
#1: shows the username/name from the backend

#2: shows what is happening on the front end

Notice that the posts are by Amonceleb. He is also a moderator for that board and his username is showing in the moderators.

As you know, there is an issue with K 1.6.0 in that global moderators' names are displayed in the same font colour as category moderators.

In the second image you posted, the one that lists moderators' names at the bottom of the page, this is a list of category moderators (whose usernames are displayed in green font). I accept that, in your example, there are messages posted by another moderator whose name is also shown in green font but whose name does not appear with the other moderators' names. It's my guess that Amonceleb is a global moderator.

Global moderators' names are not listed in individual categories unless they are specifically assigned to moderate those categories. For example, look anywhere here at Kunena.com. I am a global moderator - I am not assigned to moderate any specific group - and you will not see my name (or the administrators' names) displayed where you indicated in your second image.

That's the way that Kunena has always worked.

I hope that I understood your question and that my answer was of some help to you.

no you did not understand my issue at all...

The issue is the usage of username instead of name in the moderators list.

I am not fussing about the fact that he is a category moderator NOT a global moderator.. so the color IS wrong-- what I am concerned about is the fact that his USERNAME is what is displayed, not his NAME. You can see from his posts that THOSE display his NAME -- the desired behaviour.

The incorrect color is an annoyance --- but the username being displayed is a PROBLEM. If necessary I will hack the template to not show moderators AT ALL... but I would prefer to use the software as written whenever possible.

Simmer down, Mary. I'm just a user like you, too, y'know!

As you will see, even in the examples you provided, the lists of topics (whether you're looking at the Index, the Recent Topics or My Topics) only show the username. This, in fact, is the way things have always been in Kunena. You may be interested to read the response that I wrote earlier today to a similar question about the display of usersnames vs. "real" names. What I wrote there was that the user's real name is displayed (on the basis of a configuration setting) when you read the messages. In other words, I should have written, you the real name (of either the person who started a topic or the person posting the latest reply) is not displayed in a topic list of topics. This behaviour is consistent whether we're discussing non-privileged users or moderators.

Maybe the behaviour, only displaying the username in a list, should be changed?

Have I now correctly interpreted your meaning?

Yes, the moderator colour problem is a known issue. It's been fixed in K 1.6.1.
