I have to apologise for the quality of the documentation. The second part needs to be completely rewritten but the basics are mostly OK to go with. In the time since those articles were written, J! 1.6/1.7/2.5 have been released and K 1.7 now utilises ACL mechanisms to control access to forum categories.
