Hi, Could not find any info on how to detect the age of the user, then redirect and/or restrict content.

It is not possible to check someones age over the internet, and lets hope it never is.

You can put a warning about age restrictions on the website registration, some kind of message during the process.

thanks for reply, but that seems rather lame. i want to keep certain topics out of young peoples access so as not to upset them. is there no way to restrict them by their age they give when registering ? i want the system to do this, not relying on currius kids who ignore reading wanrings...

I would like to do this too. But first, on which registration did you ask their age?
I did not see that the registration interface that comes with the standard Kunena install asks for age or DOB, (nor in the Joomla 1.5 overall site registration either)
So was it in your registration interface for your whole site?
Or did you use an add-on, expanded registration module in the Kunena forum, if so please tell me what it is, and where to download it?
And does it have a cutoff/reject mode to ensure that let's say, children saying they are under 13 cannot register?

As for restricting already registered users on the Kunena forum, from reading a related post I believe there is a way to assign permissions to certain forum categories: in that case, you could moderate/implement a policy that child-friendly posts would have to be placed in a chosen child-friendly category, then you could restrict child users to access only that category. Unfortunately, currently those are hierarchical categories in such a way that after limiting children to the lower level, you would then have to open more posting permissions/functionality for the users posting to the other categories, which may not be to your liking.
Hopefully by now there are new filtering solutions in development and someone can give you a better solution, whereby you could allow child users access to specific forum categories while all other regular users (not admins or moderators, etc.) would still have the same permission level too, no higher, within the other forum categories they are allowed in.

You seem to be asking the same questions you've asked elsewhere. Let me make it quite clear: there is no "registration interface that comes with the standard Kunena install." Kunena does not do registration. This question has been asked and answered many times. Please read How do I register new users to my website and where should they login to use my website?

Yes. The procedure is covered (although not very well) in Sections, Categories, sub-Categories (Part 1) and Sections, Categories, sub-Categories (Part 2) - advanced setup for special groups combined with the use of Joomla ACL (or an ACL component like Artof User for J! 1.5). See the Kunena 1.7.2 release notes for more information.

OK I tried to register as a new user on my forum login interface (clicked on "Create an account") and it redirected me to the Joomla registration interface on the Home page of my site, so now I see the logins for both the site and the forum are each based on the Joomla, sitewide registration.
It could be confusing for users, so I'd like to be able to take out the login that comes in the forum, and only use the overall site login, for uniformity.
How can I remove the login form that comes in Kunena?

Looking at the wiki links you provided for the topic of this thread,

"Sections, Categories, sub-Categories (Part 2) - advanced setup for special groups"

it seems to me that just from within Kunena, a quick solution could be to set posting permissions in the forum sub-category for children this way:

"Review posts

* If this is set to YES, the posts of users are not published immediately. It needs moderators or admins to publish them manually. If the forum has no moderator, only admins can publish user posts."

That would slow down posting a lot, but would work in the immediate.
Studying the more involved Joomla-based solutions, (ACL etc.), looks promising. :)

No problem, but that is yet another different question. Again (it doesn't take very long to search the forum for answers) I will direct you to where your question has been asked and answered: [Merged Topic] Disable Registration and Login

As far as your other questions just asked in this topic that seems to have more to do about finding how to screen underage users from registration, please use a more appropriate category/topic for those things and let's try to remain on topic.

As I said originally there is no system to stop a child from registering on your website, unless you require them to provide proof they are over 18 (or whatever age you consider to be a child), such as a passport, credit card (which can be faked). The current 'Enter date of birth' stuff you get when viewing adult rated games or porn sites are easily circumvented with a Yes I am 18 or entering 1 Jan 1901 as your D.O.B. and any kid that can use a PC and read can get around that.

So unless you mean to personally meet each registrant to validate their age claim, well, there you have it.
