Hi all,

My RSS feed has suddenly started causing issues. I'm on Kunena 1.5.9, just updated JomSocial to 1.6.285 and sh404SEF to 1.5.6.398 of either of those two things are important.

Here's the feed link.....

www.nzmac.com/fb_rss.html?no_html=1

In Firefox I get....

XML Parsing Error: XML or text declaration not at start of entity
Location: www.nzmac.com/fb_rss.html?no_html=1
Line Number 2, Column 1:<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
^

Running the feed through validator.w3.org/feed/ I can't see anything wrong with the feed, but it is saying that the feed isn't valid?

The obvious question: what happens if you use K 1.5.9 and the older version(s) of JomSocial and/or sh404SEF? If the Kunena RSS feed works with the older version(s) of these other products then it's more a matter of those who were responsible for upgrading their products to fix them in order that they will cooperate with Kunena, wouldn't you say? That's my reasoning: I would take it up outside of this forum. Of course, your enquiries could result in a "finger-pointing exercise" which doesn't really solve your problem. I wish I could help you but I don't know anything about JomSocial or sh404SEF except they have, over a long time, caused hassles with Kunena. :(

Thanks, that doesn't really help...and does kinda feel a bit like finger pointing. The reason that I mentioned those two other components is simply because they are the only other things to have changed on my site recently.

The same version of sh404SEF is installed on another site and Kunena is working fine. It looks like the same version of JomSocial is installed on *this* site, so I'm not sure that's an issue either.

I was hoping for some more practical advice on what it might be? I noted posts here about issues with plugins, but one of the signs of these was javascript being embedded in the RSS feed. Nothing like that is happening here.

If you compare this forums validation....

validator.w3.org/feed/check.cgi?url=http...fb_rss%3Fno_html%3D1

To mine....

validator.w3.org/feed/check.cgi?url=www....s.html%3Fno_html%3D1

...it seems to be related to the first line being blank in the feed. I'll keep investigating.

I had some 3rd party JomSocial plugins installed. Some haven't been updated for the new version and switching this one off solved the issue....

I'm going to contact the developer.
