Hello, everyone,

I have a weird issue which can be seen at www.myswink.com.br/forum/17-brincadeiras...stando-forum.html#12

Some BBCode like text size and color works beautifully but Bold and Italics don't work.

Is this a bug?

I'm using all the latest Jomsocial, Kunena and Joomla.

Thanks for the help.

This is not a bug - nor is it a defect - but it's probably caused by another component that you have running on your website.

What specific version numbers of Kunena, Joomla and Jomsocial are you using (not just "the latest ones") and what Kunena template are you using? Do you have these issues with the Kunena default_ex template?

You have posted your question in the Support category. Please note: There is only one endorsed and supported Kunena template ... default_ex . :)

Sozzled thanks for the reply.

Joomla - 1.5 Stable
JomSocial - 1.6.285
Kunena - com_kunena_v1.5.9_stable_b1869_2010-01-23

Found the issue,

On my current install when I add the bbcode it throws up strong for bold and em for italics like below.

<strong>BOLD</strong>

<em>ITALICS</em>
I see here that Kunena uses b for bold and i for italics.

Besides installing the pt-BR language pack and template_roundy template, I have not changed anything.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Joomla - 1.5 Stable - 1.5.15, perhaps?
JomSocial - 1.6.285 - thank you, this may or may not be a factor; there have been reports of problems using this version of JomSocial
Kunena - com_kunena_v1.5.9_stable_b1869_2010-01-23 - thank you

pt-BR language pack - thank you; I don't know anything about this or whether it has been properly updated for K 1.5.9; it may or may not be a factor
template_roundy template - is this your Kunena template, or your Joomla template?

I will say this one more time: you have posted your question in the Support category. Please note: There is only one endorsed and supported Kunena template ... default_ex . Please verify that you have no problems with the default_ex Kunena template :)

Sozzled,

I apologize if I wasn't very clear, let me clarify.

Joomla 1.5.15

When I switch back to default_ex and post a new message I still get the same issue.

Using the default template and English language, I post the message and get the same issue.

It probably is something I have done since I installed all three components on a clean local server and the proper code is being thrown.

The only problem now is, do I look for this issue? Do a clean install and they try to import the old dbase? Pray to the dbase gods?

What do you think is the best course of action at this moment?

Your problem has nothing to do with the database. I'm not even sure that your problem has anything to do with Kunena (although the my_template_roundy template - wherever that came from :S - that you're using does complicate the question). We just need to ensure that the fault doesn't lie with the core Kunena files. OK? :)

In the past these problems have usually resulted from a conflict with another Joomla extension that you may have installed. The RokCandy plugin, for example, was notorious for causing the symptoms that you've described.
