Hi there,

How can I possibly use kunena as the front page of my website? as a temporary solution while I'm building the other pages...

Cheers

This question has been asked many, many times before and (to my knowledge) it hasn't been satisfactorily answered. By the time you've experimented with getting this solved you could already have designed and built the other areas of your website.

Anyway, because it's your time that's involved, here are a couple of suggestions:
  1. How about doing a domain redirect? Let's say your domain is xyz.com and your forum is located at xyz.com/forum. Redirect all inbound requests for xyz.com to xyz.com/forum. If you're clever, you could do this by a judicious editing of your .htaccess file. Don't ask me how, I don't know that stuff.
  2. Try loading your Kunena module in a different position and use the build-in Joomla {loadposition pos} directive. Good luck with that idea; I gave up after a few hours.
  3. Develop a HTTP-EQUIV REFRESH" approach to redirect inbound requests to your site, an alternative to option 1 above.
Knock yourself out. ;)

Hi sozzled,

Knocked out, I am. Indeed...
I thought my question was simple but your answers are kind of scary.
As a newbie, it may prove a bit too much for me to go through your recommendations.

Many thanks for your reply.
Cheers

Why not research the similarly-asked questions in this forum? Someone may have found an answer.

Because this question gets asked often enough, it might be nice if someone wrote a module that displayed the Kunena categories and that module could then be published on the front page. You might like to start a campaign for a new Kunena feature. As I said, by the time a solution is obtained, you could have built a dozen websites. :D

Why dont you just add a link in the menu to the forum and make it the default!?
Surely thats the easiest way of doing it???
