Question Display Most Recent First

Hi Everyone:

It seems that the present version of Kunena always places you at the oldest page of a thread upon entry, requiring you to click on the last page to see what is most current.

I would like to see the ability to view the most recent page of a thread first. Does this ability already exist? If so, please direct me to this setting. If not, I really feel this feature NEEDS to be added to K1.6. Thanks!

Sincerely,
Howard

Yes, that ability exist. Click 'My Profile' and there 'Look and Layout' and you are in page that you can choose preferred Message Ordering ;)

This is a very commonly-asked question. See, Change order for just one example. Even though the message ordering is an individual user preference, the means to find the last message is consistent, irrespective of whether the user chooses to see the messages in ascending or descending chronological order, as the following partial screenshot shows:

So, you see, if you click the "new" indicator, or the "last post" link, you will always find the latest message posted in that topic.

If you choose to view your messages "last post first" then if you click the topic title, the "beginning" of the topic will be the latest post. If you choose to view your messages "first post first" (which is the default behaviour) then the "beginning" of the topic will be the oldest post. Does that help explain the difference?

Thank you, Admata, for showing freedomcoach where to make the change. :)

Hi:

When clicking on "my profile" in the Forum, I'm taken to the community builder and joomla profile and I'm not seeing anything there that allows you to change your preferences with how a thread is displayed. Is there some other my profile I'm missing? Please advise. I see that I can click on latest post or the last page number in the displayed list but doing this would only bring me to the last page in that one instance, right?

Sincerely,
Howard

Here are the Community Builder instructions:
  1. Click the "My Profile" menu item that you have created.
  2. Click Edit button (normally located at above your CB avatar image, next to Community button - it may vary according to the CB template you use.
  3. Click Forum tab
  4. You will now see the option to change your Message Ordering. Please note the Preferred Viewtype options (View Flat | View Threaded) are non-operational with the current version of Kunena.
Please also note: The above guide is based on my understanding of CB 1.2.1. If CB 1.2.2 has changed this then you will need to contact the folks at Joomlapolis to obtain updated information.

Hi sozzled:

My Community Builder profile does not have the Forum tab. This may simply be turned off on the back end. For now, it is fine to click on last post. Maybe K1.6 will have more options with this.

Sincerely,
Howard
