Hoffi presents
a Kunena Converter which imports data from Agora forum *directly* into
Kunena forum 1.6.
Modifications are made to fix the issue of duplicated first posts of
each topic, to map topic icons (as good as possible), to import also
subscriptions, avatar images not only as .png but .jpg and .gif files
too, to use Kunena 1.6 tables jos_kunena_* instead of jos_fb_* used by
Kunena 1.5 and prior, and some more stabilizations and improvements.

Hint to Kunena itself
---------------------
I have seen in Kunena code that sometimes tables are prefixed hard with
"jos_" instead of "#__". This results in problems when Joomla! must use
another prefix (see Joomla Global Configuration -> Server -> Database
Settings -> Database Prefix).

Installation
------------
1. Backup your complete Website incl. database!
(converter clears DB tables and may overwrite files)
2. If you like remove all jos_fb_* tables in DB (used by Kunena 1.5 and
the original converter, not longer required)
3. Install original Kunena converter (1.5) and Kunena 1.6.
   (if not already done)
4. Open my file kunenaconverter.php in a text editor of your choice and
check/modify block SETTINGS as well as the topic icon mapping
   (lines 284++)
5. Save this file an copy/upload it to
     <Joomla! root>/administrator/components/com_kunenaconverters/models/
6. If you like copy/upload file kunenaconverters.xml to
     <Joomla! root>/administrator/components/com_kunenaconverters/
(it shows version 1.6 instead of 1.5 in backend)
7. In backend choose component Kunena Converters.
8. Click the Agora icon and wait until import has completed.
9. In backend choose Kunena Control Panel and check/set access rights
and other settings to fit your needs.
A. If you had have polls in your Agora forum you should click
"Recount Category Statistics" in Kunena Control Panel.
(but note: polls itself are *not* imported yet)
B. In front-end select your new Kunena forum (you should have made a
proper menu entry) and check the results.
C. If all is imported correctly you can uninstall Agora forum.
(Important! Save and later restore the attachments because they keep
   located at <Joomla! root>/components/com_agora/img/members/)
D. Keep fingers crossed that Kunena doesn't become commercial too!

What works?
-----------
+ Removing content of *all* DB tables related to users and topics/posts.
+ So repeatedly call of the converter is possible (of course, you loose
all posts or other changes made in Kunena forum directly)
+ Users and their avatars (.png|.jpg|.gif files supported yet, copied to
  <Joomla! root>/media/kunena/avatars/users/), signatur, subscriptions etc.
+ unknown users (with id 0) supported - shown as "Guest"
+ categories and forums
+ topics and posts (incl. Closed and Sticky flags)
+ optional: try to restrict all imported categories and forums
to registered users. (configurable in php files SETTINGS block)
+ map topic icons as good as possible
+ optional: import smileys used in Agora
(configurable in php files SETTINGS block)
+ and all things slipped my mind ;)

What doen't work?
-----------------
- no import of polls
- no import if birthday (user profile)
- no import of user bans
- attachments are not copied, maybe they are located in com_agora subtree
- "old" attachments of Kunena not deleted
- "old" avatar files not deleted, but overwritten as needed
- no import of groups and access rights
- no import of moderator role
- no import of "read" flag, so all topics are presented as "New"
- There is a counting problem in Agora if polls are involved. These wrong
topic counters are imported exactly. So you should after import call
"Recount Category Statistics" in Kunena Control Panel to fix this
  Agora bug.
- and all things slipped my mind ;)
