I spoke too soon. Perhaps it was some keywords in my last post, but a CAPTCHA screen popped up after I hit submit.

WYSIWYG is a different subject and we have an entire topic devoted to it. Please remain on-topic when using this forum.

The subject of this topic is "IP banning in Kunena". There is no banning by IP in Kunena, but there are possibly other extensions that can do that.

Kunena allows you to ban users by their Joomla username.

Circling back to the original post, I noticed that you guys used CAPTCHA for the first several posts I made, but that it doesn't appear anymore. I personally don't like CAPTCHA cos I just started needing reading glasses, and I have trouble reading that stuff even with them on. I do however like this little module I found on a blog I really like:

I am assuming that it is not currently an option, but would it be hard for someone to create an extension like it?

Is there a "preview" button I can activate? SOmetimes it is helpful to be able to see how certain formatting shows up, or if your video goes up properly before hitting "submit".

An additional question to add to this first one... In my old forum you could start typing something in the "quick reply" box, then realize that you want all the formatting options and hit the "go advanced" button, which would take everything you have typed up to that point and moves you into a full reply window with all the trimmings. Is that possible here?

I just noticed that in my current forum, after hitting the quick reply button and typing a long post that I later decided I wanted advanced posting tools, but there was no button to take me there. It may be an option but I don't know where to go in the CP to activate those features.

I have searched on this topic, but not finding what I was looking for.

Does a quick reply box that is open at the bottom of each thread exist or does it have to be some sort of custom add-on?

If it is an existing feature, could someone direct me to the place in the admin CP to activate it. If it is an add-on, I would most appreciate it if someone would provide a link.

Not that I am savvy enough to install it if that is the route I have to go. I will have someone else do it.

Thanks! :cheer:

Well, that's certainly not the answer I was hoping for.I know my forum members will be pissed.

Ah, so perhaps they were just moved. If they are moved do they no longer show up in "my topics"? I had made two separate posts... one was about WYSIWYG. I posted it as a topic in this subforum. I figured it was probably answered elsewhere and deleted to reduce clutter or repetition.

I hate to repost the same question if I can't find it... I'm still sort of new to this new forum layout and working on a steep learning curve. Apologies if my newbiness is wearing you all out.

In the interest of "staying on topic", I have started two separate threads on the various questions I have, but I don't see either one of them any more. We're they deleted for some reason?

This is another feature that I actually liked from VBulletin. I am sure Kunena has it, but I just haven't found it in the admin CP yet.

Thanks! That was very helpful.

Sorry for venturing off topic. Just pointing out that my very life is at stake. My forumites really own their forum!

Thanks. Wow, really? No IP ban? That's disturbing. I had so many spam attackers on my last forum. The only way to really pull the weeds out by the root sometimes was to ban their IP. I notice that you use CAPTCHA on each individual post. I would like to try something like that myself, but my existing members would probably track me down and hang me by my own entrails! They're chewing me a new one right now because I haven't figured out how to set the forum up where the Quick Reply box is just sitting open at the bottom of each thread.

I can't seem to find WYSYWYG settings either. Some of the complication may be added to by the fact that I have JomSocial. It seems to supersede many of the functions previously performed by Kunena.

I have a steep learning curve ahead of me. I'm just glad to have found a place to get some support.

I have a brand new Joomla/Kunena site with JomSocial and a few other goodies. My site was previously using VBulletin, which I am glad to leave behind me.

Nonetheless, it was familiar, and this new CP is not.

First, as an admin, where do I go in my CP to do IP bans?

I have about 15 global mods that I would like to have the ability to IP ban members... Is there a setting where I can enable them to do this? Frankly, I'd like to set up a one step process by which if ANYONE is banned, that the first three sectors of their IP are automatically banned at the same time.

Thanks in advance for any answers. I'm glad to have found this resource! :)
