Subscription was created by HanKortekaas
Under configurations one can opt for subsriptions; I have chosen for 'No"
Yet, under the profile the line "Select subscription as default" pops up, which in this case should be hidden.

Is there an override possible and if so what is the code?

Hello,

We had noticed the issue here too on kunena.org, i need to look to find a fix for it
04 Sep 2023 05:03
After more testing I have further narrowed down the issue.

The option that really slows my site down is "Category Subscriptions" - rather than individual post subscriptions.

I have now enabled subscriptions to posts but disabled subscriptions to categories.

Posting in case this is causing performance problems for other Kunena users.

Fix:
In Kunena config > Users tab >
Set Category Subscriptions to Disabled

The speed of posting and replying on my site has improved from 10 to 60 seconds before to 1 to 2 seconds now.

On my site it takes 15 to 60 seconds to post a new topic or reply.

Rest of site (just browsing) is fast enough.

Have discovered that if, in Kunena config, I set  "Allow subscriptions" to No then the problem goes away and submitting a new post or reply takes just a second or two.

Site has 500k topics, 200k users. Joomla 3.10.12, Kunena 5.2.14

I found and old thread on same topic but its very old:
www.kunena.org/forum/139-K-15-Support-Ar...-subscriptions#25695

Is this a know issue? And ideas on the cause - as the last message in above old post says - it seems that when you click submit to post a topic you then get left hanging in the browser for 30 seconds while some subscription emailing processing is going on in the background - and only after its all done does the user see the page refresh to show their posted topic was submitted OK.

Replied by Petley on topic Link from email subscription
I fixed it! (all by myself )
When the menu items were rebuilt on the migration from Joomla 3 to Joomla 4 , it set standard access levels.
I have now altered them all back to what they should be and everything is working fine.
Thanks
Terry

Replied by Petley on topic Link from email subscription
I did think that this may be a Joomla problem , but on Joomla pages where you don't have access , it displays exactly as it should.

So it's a Kunena Problem.
I know it's not an important one , but it's just very frustrating.

Thanks

Previously when subscribed to a topic in the forum you would recieve an email. If you follow the link on the email, you got an error message about not being logged in. This I changed via the language overides to something more appropriate for our site.

With Joomla 4 / Kunena 6.1, although the overides still exist, on following the link in the email , I get a .....

Hi - I've just installed Kunena 6 and I'm not getting any subscription emails and neither are other users. I am getting other emails from Joomla.

Thanks for your cooperation.
It will mean that I can not use the "collective" subscription function.
It has to be so.
14 Dec 2021 09:56
Unfortunately I can't figure out where that came from. Whatever setting I try it always stays with 1 email per topic or replay.
I also looked at whether community builder can have an influence, but that doesn't seem to be the case either.
Also sp builder settings viewed no influence.

In this situation, the sender is the owner of the website in the Kunena-system ( now i as administrator added all users in the 'users' by using the button "add subscriptions to categories" )
13 Dec 2021 14:38
is the sender of that multiple email always the same or is sometimes the sender the poster in the topic and maybe also administrator joomla sender and or administrator or moderator of the forum ? or systems emails.. ?

I am not using any extension like Auto subscriptions for Kunena.
Sorry to hear that there is no explanation for this problem.

I have no explanation how this can happen, unless you are using an extension for Auto Subscriptions. But you didn't answer this question.
