You can manually assign categories to one or more users at the same time in the backend -> Kunena -> Users.
There is also a plugin auto-subscription-for-kunena (not tested by us), which does this automatically.
However, users should confirm that they agree to this when registering, otherwise it would be spam and you could run into problems for you.

I don't know why there have to be errors all the time with this Kunena.
I have updated Joomla and Kunena and now a new user cannot be created and I do not receive an email about errors during creation.
It is so ridiculously annoying that there must be errors upon errors every time there is an update.I spoke to a Joomla consultant who said that Captha was gone after the update and he didn't know if it came back in Kunena 6.2.1.
Right now there is - again - not much that works.
Users are also not notified of new posts, etc.
So all in all, the update is a massive downgrade

This is easy to determine. Go to System -> Extensions and search for this extension. Disable everything that belongs to this extension.
Basically: Always use the Joomla and Kunena default template during troubleshooting.
Disable Add Suffix to URL in the Joomla Global Configuration. This can leads to errors.
Furthermore: Why have you activated reCaptcha if your users are created manually? If the registration is disabled, no spambot can register. Disable reCaptcha.

Please create a configuration report again afterwards.

You have done a lot of unnecessary work. If you had only installed the forum and as the only configuration only allowed registered users, everything would be as you want.

And I do not need multi-level access to the Forum unless mods are able to clean up the mess and dirty posts every now and then.

Admins and global moderators can do that anyway, you don't need an extra user group for that. But where would dirty posts or spam come from if no registration is allowed and you create the users yourself?

It would be best if you undo everything you have changed for the assignment of rights in Joomla and Kunena. You have to do this manually for the categories, as the Restore Default option only resets the configuration, but not changes in the categories.

I understand that, but our old neighbors will not understand that, because if there is an item "New Topic" in the menu (Index is shown), they will not understand, why they cannot post any topic.

And even when I dive deeper into any category, I still receive error 403 error. I yesterday deleted all accounts from Kunena and synced them again. The Categories were set to Registered User Groups only - again, no luck.
I really do not understand, what else is required to do, so it is finally working and functional as expected. The help guide just described something about the menu, but it did not provide too much help to me.

So far, I am just experiencing huge confusion and misunderstanding among users, which is something, I cannot give them. If neither I am able to work with the board, they will contact me ASAP asking me for assistance, on how to use the board. 

Will it work, when I allow every spammer to type whatever mess into any Category (which is something we do not really want)?
If it is like that, then it is just a security issue for sure.

The menu was rebuilt again and again, but still without any success.

I did delete the old präfixes. Now I could also set the collation to utf8mb4_general_ci (so all have the same).

Hallo, 
ich habe durch den Upgrade-Prozess von J3 auf J5 und damit Verbunden Kunena 5 auf Kunena 6 so meine Probleme. 
Die Seite läuft zwar, aber neue User-Registrierungen laufen nicht rund. Sie bekommen zwar eine Mail - aber da fehlt der Aktivierungslink usw. 
Beim Posten der Kunena-Konfig wird keiner Schlau, da dort scheinbar ein falscher Zeichensatz stört.

In der Datenbank ist mir aufgefallen, dass ich dort mittlerweile 3 verschiedene Präfixe habe. 
Kann ich das irgendwie bereinigen? Ich schleppe die DB glaube schon seit Joomla 1.5 mit mir rum und will mal Altlasten entfernen.

Thanks for looking. I did have a simple Kunena menu previously. I just reinstalled from backup again, but still having the same problem. I tried several times to rebuild the Kunena menu and then add items to it, but I'm still getting the same error. Here is my current config, maybe something obvious will jump out again:

suddenly getting this error: 0: Call to undefined method stdClass::get() was created by sushidog
Everything was working fine. I upgraded to Joomla 5, and it my template (Helix Ulitmate) wasn't behaving properly, so I restored from my backup, and now I get this error when trying to go to my usual Forum menu item:

0: Call to undefined method stdClass::get()

I switched to the default Cassiopia template, but get the same error. I messed around with the menu item trying to get it working, but no luck.

When posting on Kunena - members cannot open word file attachment on applephone was created by honeyflowfarm
I have Kunena 6.1.3 installed on my Joomla 4 site (that I upgraded only a few months ago) lapeercountyconcertchoir.com/index.php/c...tal/choir-forum.html

Every week, Our Director sends out a post with a ms-word file attached. The file opens fine on a pc or android phone and also on Apple computer - but when someone tries it on an APPLE PHONE - it will not open and get this: (attachment) This person says it has opened fine previously (when site is on Joomla4)
 

I do not have any apple phones and cannot test it. Could there be any file on my site, left over from Joomla 3 that ids causing the error?
