Kunena is taking over my Joomla Profile!!!! was created by pambesteder

Kunena is taking over my Joomla Profile!!!!

Category: General Questions Archive

I installed Kunena simply for the forum, that's all.

But now it's taking over what my users see in their regular Joomla profile.

BEFORE I installed Kunena, ALL my users saw in their profile was their user name, password, email with the ability to change all of those.

NOW, there's a section for:

PERSONAL DETAILS (asking for gender and uploading an avatar??) , USER ACTION (asking to be notified of new plugins, etc.??) LOGIN OPTIONS, USER PROFILE FOR A BIRTHDAY????

How do I disconnect my regular Joomla profile page from anything Kunena is doing?

All I want users to see on the profile page is user name, password, email with the ability to change all of those.

Help!!!!

Pam

Problem with avatar upload and preview post

Category: K 5.1 Support

Hi to all,
I have lastest Joomla (3.9.21) and latest kunena (5.1.19) installed.

I haven't noticed exactly when (but I'm sure 2-3 months ago there wasn't any problem), but I see that the preview post is not working (it displays blank grey page).

Also I received message from users that they cannot upload avatar, they browse for the avatar, they press "upload" and the default grey head avatar is still there always.

I searched for solution here, I changed in the configuration - Avatars the option "Default avatar type" from icon to image but still the same.
Also I noticed that if I select an avatar from the gallery of kunena instead of upload a new one, then it works, but if I try to do it from the "upload" option in my profile then it doesn't work so the users can only select an avatar from my gallery of kunena (I have uploaded some avatars myself if any user prefer these)

This is my configuration report if you can find what causes these 2 problems (preview post and avatar upload).

Thank you.

You can either move complete sections along with all categories, or only move categories within sections.

The second possibility is the patch option. You can move more than one category at the same time (see image below):

Something odd happened to the forum pages on my website some time between yesterday afternoon and this morning. The styles went completely awry. I eventually tracked the problem down to the file media/kunena/cache/blue_eagle5/css/kunena.css, which had no content. When I copied the content of the same file from a backup the styles were restored. However, within a few minutes the kunena.css file was empty again.

I've done a work round by copying the content of the backed-up version of kunena.css into a new file, which I've also called kunena.css but have uploaded to a different folder. I then copied the contents of com_kunena/template/blue_eagle5/assets/css/custom.css into the bottom of the new kunena.css and edited my main website template index.php file so that the new stylesheet is added when a Kunena page is loaded. But presumably this isn't an optimum solution?

I don't understand why the css cache file is being emptied of content. I did not make any changes to the website at yesterday or today before I encountered the issue. Any ideas?

PHP 7.4.x + J.3.9.x + Kunena 5.1.x (Latest) - Category Frozen

The forum I am building here: https://wethepeopleonline.com/we-the-people-assemblageshttps://wethepeopleonline.com/we-the-people-assemblages has some strange issues that I cannot seem to figure out how to resolve.

#1) When I first started working on this; before I manually created 3000+ categories. I created "Washington (WA) State" category. The sub-categories (Counties of our State of WA) were all flipped upside down. No matter what I did for "re-arrange" and moving "Adams County" to the very top. It doesn't change on the front-end, regardless of clearing cache. I never resolved this. I finished my manual data entry on all the other State Categories before working my way down to Washington (A-Z). Once I finished data entering all the states and counties; I found out that it did not fix this.

#2) When I went to disable, delete or modify any part of the Category "Washington (WA) State" or it's sub-categories of Counties. No matter what I do "clicking the down arrow first for sorting before re-ordering the categories" works... just doesn't work. This only happens on this category as I was able to move beyond "Washington (WA) State" category to West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming without problems.

The error message I receive is in blue in Joomla Admin / Kunena Category Section of the Component.

The message says the following regardless of the action taken:

Notice
Please select category from the list before taking this action!

Any pointers would be helpful! Thank you!

Best Regards,

Brandon

Login Problems

Category: Miscellaneous, off-topic and general Joomla

== Topic moved to general Joomla (it has nothing to do with Kunena) ==

in my opinion it is not about a menu module, but it depends on the Kunena forum package.

Kunena does not have a login or register form, so there is no option for password recovery. If you use the Kunena login, you get only a redirect to the Joomla registration or login. The login takes place by Joomla.
Example:
If you click on "Crea un account" you see in your browser address
webpageaddress/component/users/?view=registration&Itemid=101
But the itemid 101 is the menu item for home, therefore you will come to the home page if the login form is not found.
This problem does not always occur, but it can occur and a menu item Login Form (see image) should solve this problem.
I am sorry, but I do not know of any other attempt at a solution, even if you have a different opinion.

Huge amount of subscribers crashes the category

Category: K 5.0 Support

I have a private forum where a large amount of users are subscribed to one of the categories. When a user posts to it the amoutn of emails the system sends causes a site lag issue which means sometimes the post is replicated 2 to 4 times making the situation even worse!

Is there a way to delay the notification emails being sent out at all?

I am in the midst of upgrading resources but would like to fix this anyway

Portrait images rotated to landscape

Category: K 5.0 Support

For some reason, Kunena (or Joomla) has started to rotate portrait images to landscape.
It seem like an issue documented in these forums many years ago, linked to camera pictures missing orientation info ?
I'm pretty sure this has not been an issue before, but I'm not sure if it's the latest Kunena version or the latest Joomla version that brought the issue back, the site were updated with both recently.

Any ideas on how to solve?

PHP 7.3 issue

Hi
I am on Kunena 5.1.19 and have just tried to upgrad to php 7.3 and got the following error message:
"Warning: "continue" targeting switch is equivalent to "break". Did you mean to use "continue 2"? in /website url/modules/mod_as_menu/helper.php on line 75"

Can anyone assist in fixing this issue.
Many thanks
Paul

PS
I have reverted back to php 7.2 because of the error message.

How to erase data every semester

Category: General Questions Archive

Which Kunena version use you? If you delete a user he should be displayed as a Visitor (the user name and messages remain) and a deleted user has no profile anymore, therefore also not a link to this profile.
If you want to remove all topics, it is a better way if you do it before you delete your users.
Go to "Backend -> Kunena -> Users", mark all users with the checkbox, and click on top of the button "Trash Messages". This option moves all messages of the marked users into the trash (or you create an own category with access only for admins so you have an archive).
If you have the users already deleted, you must delete the topics in the frontend.Choose in the configuration (tab Frontend) a high number of Topics Per Page, so it's possible to delete many topics with one process (Recent Topics -> mark the checkboxes, then delete or move the topics).

Addition:
I've forgotten the third possibility (it's the easiest way). Backend -> Kunena -> Tools -> Prune Categories -> Prune topics with no posts for the past = 0 days.
Mark all categories with the key CTRL + Mouse and delete or move all messages to the trash. Afterwards the forum should be clean.
