diagnostics in Kunena and "broken" elements

Category: General questions and how-tos

Hi,
by diagnostics in Kunena periodically arise messageBodyMissingMessage, messageOrphaned, attachmentOrphaned, userTopicOrphaned and other "broken" elements of forum.

Questions.
1. How and why do such "broken" elements appear?
In other words, how to avoid them.

2. Is it possible to look at these items before deleting in Kunena? (among them may be important). For example, create a file with information about them. Or should we look for them in the database?

3. To question 2. Kunena offers to remove "broken" elements.
Maybe the developers will offer an alternative? For example, in a specially created topic "Diagnostics" create a post for each broken element, for example, the text of a message without a topic, a post without a parent etc. Then an admin can decide, what to do with such elements.

Regards

Non registered users get different link and it fails?

Category: Kunena Latest (M)

How can i get the link to just go to a login page instead please?

Guests should not see this link, when the category is only for registered users unless you have only the setting "Registered Users Only" in the configuration and not changed the default category permissions. But in that case guests get the info: "Please Log In
Only community members can participate in this forum. You must register or log in to contribute."
Therefore I think, you have changed or moved Kunena menu items, when this works not correct. See here: docs.kunena.org/en/troubleshooting/menu-issues

Category: General questions and how-tos

Hi Guys,
I ve spent many hours to solve and I have been waiting for 2 weeks now to get an answer from this forum, just one short reply.
Again I will try it here:
I have upgraded Joomla from 1.5 to 3.9 and thus also upgraded kunena to the latest version.
I have installea a kunana template and everything looked fine. all the categories are visible.

Prob is: i cannot create new topic or answer one. always comes the error from the debug mode: Exception throw at line 665 in file /homepages/33/d134278986/htdocs/2019.psychoanalyse-muenchen.de/libraries/joomla/database/driver/mysqli.php with message You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ' 'ggg')' at line 3

dont know what else to do.....(-:

cannot create new topic

Category: General questions and how-tos

Hi Guys,
i really need help. Could not find answers neither via google search nor in kunena forum....

The problem is: Registered users or above cannot create a new topic in the forum. The users can open a category, read the forum content and are able to see and click on the "new topic" button
I changed the template but still the prob is there. MySQL is latest version. Joomla V is 3.9.10 (latest) Kunena is: 5.1.13.1

You can try yourself here: (use the username test and password 123456) www.psychoanalyse-muenchen.de/anmeldung

I enabled the debug mode and the error message is:

Users logged into other users accounts

Category: K 5.1 Support

I read through the forum and see this has been an issue in the past but don't see any resolutions. This is a really disturbing situation. I've gotten multiple reports of users being logged into other users accounts and even posting as the other user. I updated to the latest kunena and still getting these reports.

I have just upgraded to 5.1.13.1 and verified that my problem of slow loading pages containing images persists.

For the page: www.angloboerwar.com/forum/2-introductio...-imperial-volunteers

5.1.12.1: Time to create page: 35.746 seconds
5.1.13.1: Time to create page: 35.724 seconds

Almost identical.

ssh,

Many thanks for your messages. These are useful suggestions that will speed up most sites.

You reminded me that I have disables JCH Optimise as part of my testing so I have re-enabled that which will cover items 3 and 4 on your list.

My version of PHP is 7.2.20.

I will continue to work through your list. I think the problem has its root with the last version of the forum and I see a new version has been released so I will install that now ...

With thanks again

Presumably many Kunena users are affected by this issue in the latest version?

Altogether this problem has been reported three or four times. But it was before this Kunena version and the last question about this problem was this topic in German language here (1 year ago). www.kunena.org/forum/36-German/150018-dr...r-eingebunden-werden
Which worked version you had installed previously?

What happens, if you set in the Joomla Global Configuration -> tab Server > "Error Reporting = Maximum" and in the Kunena Configuration (tab General) "Enable Debug Mode = Yes" ? Maybe you can see the error.

Thank you for your reply.

I have been doing more testing today with different cache setting, different templates, turning on/off other modules without any change.

As you say, the time to load is dependent on the images on the page. If there are no images, load time is good:

Time to create page: 0.307 seconds

I have a thread with multiple images and the results for this page are:

Time to create page: 40.744 seconds

The problem does not depend on how many images there are in the thread, only on how many are being display on the screen when the thread loads. For example, a thread containing 303 posts but with only 3 text posts that load when the thread loads, open in 0.4 seconds.

Turning the Kunena cache on or off makes no difference. This is the case if the cache as set to 3 minutes and the same thread is loaded and then reloaded immediately. In both cases the time to load is 40 seconds.

This problem was not evident before this version of Kunena so is it possible to identify what change is causing it please?

I presume I cannot revert to the previous version?

It is possible to ask the user what action was taken to prevent it?

My forum uses a lot of images and I am seeing usage of my site drop off these last 2 weeks probably caused by a degree of frustration on the load times. Presumably many Kunena users are affected by this issue in the latest version? A solution would be much appreciated.

With thanks
David
