Replied by ruud on topic Help needed: Logs Backend view
Hi Gindi,
Thanks for the feedback and you are correct.
While refactoring the view and filters I try to use as much functionality that Joomla offers out of the box, so instead of creating a kunena (target) user field I used the Joomla build in user field.
Advantage is that this is maintained, has a lot of functionality (like searching for a user), disadvantage is that the 'name' cannot be changed. So we cannot name it target user...

I can also create a kunena user field that can have any name. It would then be a dropdown of all users that actually can be filtered (so do not display users in the list that do not have an entry in the log table), but that will be a dropdown and not the modal popup with all functionality it has now.

So this is I think somewhat personal or depending on the site usage ( few or many users etc)

I am able to create the kunena user fields but want to avoid having to revert that change (as I cannot revert my time :))

Maybe @ritch or @florian can also discuss / make a decision.

What would be your preference Gindi?

404 bei Aktion - button was created by K.A.
  Hallo Leute.

Introduction:

The Kunena team is thrilled to announce the second public beta release of Kunena 6.3, a native Joomla extension for Joomla 4.4 an 5.0. This is a development release and should be only be used for testing; this version is not recommended for live websites at this stage.

The purpose of this release is to encourage testing by downloading, installing and identifying any problems or shortcomings that people may discover. K 6.3.0 B2 is stable and we are aware that people will discover defects. We encourage you to use the forum to report defects, as soon as they are discovered, so that the development team can work through the problems before the release of K 6.3 as a stable product. Reporting defects does not mean that the problems can or will be fixed. The Kunena team is looking forward to hearing your feedback on how well we have achieved our design goals.

Kunena 6.3 has been designed to work on Joomla! 4.4 and later (for testing purpose it can be installed on beta of Joomla! 5.1), the requirements are the followings :
  • Php 7.4.1 to Php 8.3.x
  • MySQL 5.7.23 to MySQL 8.3.0
  • Bootstrap 5.1

The work done in Kunena 6.3 is the following:

  • Refactor the backend views to be compatible with Joomla! 5.0 (thanks to ruud)
  • Some bugfixes and refactor of code
  • Replace Twitter by X in all places where it was used and add bluesky social network
  • Replace some deprecated usage of methods Joomla! from in the code
  • Implementation of handle of mentions in a message when using CKeditor
  • Get list of users for autocomplete in search form

Download:

Download K6.3.0 Beta2 here: https://github.com/Kunena/Kunena-Forum/releases/tag/6.3-Beta2

This means that the Kunena 6.2 series is approching the end of life and will be discountinued, with the future release of K6.3 in stable there won't be new versions of K6.2 after that.

Donations

Any donations are needed for future support.

I don't know if this post is appropriate here.
In the Kunena Dashboard the statistics have been removed but in the Joomla Sidepanel under "Components - Kunena Forum" the entry "Statistics" is still available and can be accessed.

When a user is banned, the "banned" field is set in the database (with a date for the ban).

If you select "banned=yes" in the user view, the filter acts on it: it lists the users for whom a ban date has been set.

Unfortunately, the "banned" column in the database contains 1000-01-01 00:00:00 for all users. There is no date entered for the ban.

The user is also listed as banned if he is banned. A blocked user is therefore also marked as blocked, but is not actually blocked, as the blocking date is not entered.

The term "locked" is actually only used for Joomla users. In the user account details, the user has the user status Released or Locked (0 or 1). In the user database, this is shown in the "block" column, 0 or 1, but there is no date field for the block.

How is it with user synchronization in Kunena Tools?
How is the synchronization of the blocking between Joomla and Kunena carried out if there is a 1 in Joomla and a date in Kunena?

Replied by rich on topic Session timeout
Does this happen often? It can always happen that you are logged out even though the time limit has not been exceeded. This has always happened in Joomla and can happen in the frontend as well as in the backend.
The setting "User Edit Grace Time = 3600" in the configuration (tab Users) does not help you in this respect, as it only has a function in connection with "User Edit Time".
This means that if you only give permission to edit for a certain time, e.g. 20 minutes. After that, the user has 20 minutes before the edit button disappears.
But if he has opened the edit window within these 20 minutes, he will have as much time until to edit and sending as specified in "User Edit Grace Time".
This is not relevant for you, as you always allow editing.

Session timeout was created by makitso
Joomla 4.4.3, Kunena  6.2.4.
I have the Joomla timeout is set to 60 minutes. The kunena session timeout is set to 3600 seconds.
However, I have Kunena users complaining about their session timing out while editing a post sooner than these limits.
Am I missing somethin

Should work so far. I have updated Joomla, installed Kunena over it again, redirect plugins disabled and disabled SEO settings.
Rename your htaccess.txt to .htaccess (the dot at the beginning is important), then select in the Joomla global configuration:
Search Engine Friendly URLs = Yes
Use URL Rewriting = Yes
Then test your forum again.
Also check your category settings. If the section is only accessible for superusers and your group named "Forum", the contained category cannot be seen by guests, also if is set to Public.

I have tried my best to apply everything you have suggested I do there are no main menu forms linked to the forum I have used the menu creation tool to recreate the forum menus and I get this error not sure if it means anything:

danger
Joomla\CMS\Table\MenuType: :delete failed - Some menu items or some menu modules related to this menutype are checked out by another user or the default menu item is in this menu.

You can make any changes you wish to get the forum working on forum.BiiC.co.za I have set up super user access in private message and I have logged in using it and pre accepted the privacy acceptance so that you won't be forced to view profile when you login.

Main issues posts are not selectable as it runs into a timeout if you select a post to view.
I have set all the blog categories to "Forum" access level not quite sure what the difference is between access level and access group setting on Kunena permissions maybe that might be the issue??
I just realy need to get this forum working urgently Please help.

Can reproduce with different templates (Joomla and Kunena) and J4 and J5. Furthermore I see that webdeveloper network inspection shows a http 303 statuscode which means a "redirect".
